Site 37 had a large tree that had fell and was blocking access to the lake. Couldn't pull the boats up to camp. The corp of engineers knew about this and we even seen the ranger drive through the park. No one fixed this problem. I didn't know this was a problem until I arrived to camp. Bad main breaker shut down whole loop. They also knew about the breaker but didn't fix it. The boat ramp was closed. The corp of engineers blames in on money and resources, but the public knows that is not the truth. Been camping there many years, this is the worst it has ever been. Used to be a really nice place. Whoever makes these decisions on behalf of the corp of engineers needs to do better.

We visit Hanks Creek often. This trip we arrived and got unhooked and set up to discover there was no electricity at our site. When I opened the box the inside panel fell out on the ground. I went to the host to report the issue. The host said that site had just been worked on and they thought it was ready. The host moved us to another site and later we met other campers that had booked on the same loop and they had to move also due to the sites not having electricity either. Hanks Creek was severely damaged due to flooding but the COE should have done a better job of making sure the sites that were open had been completely repaired. Very inconvenient to get all set up to find out the site is dead!

This is a beautiful secluded campground on Sam Rayburn Lake. We liked our campsite however it was right across the from the screened shelter area that several families were staying and having some kind of a reunion so we had very little privacy. This park has a remodeled area on the south end that was really nice, wished we had stayed in that area instead.

We were very happy to see that repairs/updates were being made to the loop for campsites 21-31, after the rain/storm damage. The floating dock on the camping side was replaced while we were there. The Volunteer Camp Host Group were very efficient and helpful.
We are glad to see that the Corps is finally making some repairs. Hanks Creek Park is a beautiful area, and a favorite of many campers. Please do not close it during the winter months.
Thank you for putting our tax dollars to work, finally!
