One of the two RV hosts at the front of the campground had two large noisy dogs penned up outside their RV. The dogs barked incessently at passers-by, cars, people on bikes, visitors walking dogs, etc. This went on for much of the day and late into the night. No private or public campground I have ever visited would ever allow such nuisance dogs to behave like this. The owners seemed to make no effort to control them or were away from the RV for significant periods of time. No help.

First time to Hank`s Creek. Good destination in winter for quiet family camping. Restrooms were clean, campground was peaceful, and hosts were friendly. One downside was that only 1/2 of shelters were open despite being able to book online. We arrived at dusk, unpacked for 5 and then found out that we needed to change sites in darkness as only some shelters had power. Ouch! Pretty unpleasant first experience but got better from there. Pretty place to take short campground bike rides or possibly fish. We had dogs and they enjoyed camp and were grateful to not meet any gators. Cold Jan temps help! Keep in mind that easy to overload electric circuits in shelters. We wanted to hike and best options are 25 min drives into Angelina forest to trailheads. We would return but would like to experience other East TX destinations as well.
