No gate attendant when checking in and we were not advised that the gate would be locked at 10 pm. We exited the campground about 6 pm to return just after 10:00 to locked gates and requested the park host to open the gate and he refused and we had to walk to the far end of the campground. Restrooms were not updated with toilet paper during our stay from 12/31/24 to 1/3/25.

Great park! The lake is very low, so boating is a risk, but the park is wonderful. Very clean, with fire pits and cooking grills cleaned after every visitor, and the grounds are beautiful. Lots of wildlife and nice bathrooms.

We always enjoy our camping trips for Lofers Bend West, site 68. Great afternoon shade from the large tree by the patio table. Great views of the lake from 3 sides (looking north and west, then the swim beach to the east.). Huge complaint this trip is the restricted access to the dump station inside the West park. When you stay 10 days, you need access to dump the tanks. They only opened it Friday-Sunday. So when we leave on Wednesday, we can not use it. Park host said its bc they are trying to empty it to make repairs on it. We were directed to a dump station outside the park, that requires one to make a u-turn or back in to get access. And its surrounded by large bolder bricks to protect the dump area so its extremely difficult, especially in a 36ft fifth wheel. Then you have to make a hard u-turn to leave out. Ridiculous thing to ask any RVer.

This was our first visit to the park and although a little chilly we had a wonderful time. My granddaughter enjoyed the playground and all of us enjoyed the lake views and all the wildlife.

Overall, the experience was good. We were parked down by the water and the campsite was a little too steep for a 5th wheel, but we managed. Very windy and cold that first day. The next day was beautiful. Watch out for lots of stickers in the grass for little doggies. We did not use the restrooms so cannot report on them. Good place to fish from the bank when fish are biting. Other state parks and Corp of engineer parks are close by for visiting. We will return but look for a drive through spot or a site more level.
