Beautiful park. Glad to see boat ramp back in operation now that the lake level has risen to normal. Be careful on the park roads if you have a large 5th wheel or motorhome. In many places, the only way to avoid tree damage to roof or sides is to use the oncoming lane or the entire road width to try to avoid tree contact (and hope there is no oncoming traffic around one of the curves on the very winding roads). Trimming limbs in camping sites by guests is supposed to be prohibited, but to avoid expensive tree damage, you may find it necessary with these tall vehicles. Our 36' bumper-pull comes very close to needing trimming, so taller vehicles are certainly at risk. We do have to use the oncoming lane or the entire road width in certain places, or risk damage to the roof or sides our expensive RV. Restroom repair is minimal, so loudly slamming doors, water leaks, and lighting issues are the rule, not the exception. If you stay during a weekend, or especially through holidays, expect to have to run your bedroom A/C fan all night if you need to sleep. There is NO enforcement of "quiet time" rules, and extremely sparse park ranger or law enforcement presence, even during the day.

We love Lofers Ben West but it could use some updating. Our water faucet leaked and there isn't any wifi. I wish there were sewer sites. The gate attendants are awesome.

Despite this camping trip to Lofers Bend West being the week after Texas' "Deep Freeze", we had a wonderful time, with 7 family RVs in attendance. Until 2 days before we had to leave, only one of the 3 restrooms in Lofers West was operational, due to damage caused by freezing. Due to rolling blackouts, the Corps could not provide continuous heat for the restrooms and their plumbing corridors, so the park restrooms suffered some significant damage to plumbing and fixtures. Operation was restored to a 2nd restroom before we left, and I'm sure the 3rd has now been restored. Other than this inconvenience (our RV tanks needed dumping more frequently), our stay was pleasant and enjoyable, as always.
