We loved site 87 by the lake. It is a beautiful park. The bath house by the sites in the 40's did not have hot water on the men's side, and lukewarm water on the women's side so showering was miserable. That bath house was not very nice.

Great park, nice water views, close to Dallas, and beautiful deer. All those things are at Hickory Creek. The only drawback is some sites have no shade.

We absolutely love Hickory Creek. However, please be advised that campers do not leash their dogs and claim their dogs are friendly as the dog charges you. I was in tears, and one guy holding a beer told me to get back to my spot and leave his dog alone. All I said was his dog needed to be on a leash. The second day I walked my dog the other direction and a man lost control of his dog coming out of his camper. He kept telling me it wasnt his dog but his son. Ok, it came out of his camper. Never left my camp spot for 3 days. Sad. I did talk with the sweet lady at the gate and she said she would send someone. Something needs to be done since a lady last week was bit by a dog.

The sites and park are always clean, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The large (city provided) track pickups are frequent to avoid over flow and smells. Very accommodating and patient people in the front gate office. The park host's also do a very efficient job of managing peoples guest parking, etc. We've been to this park about 5 times this year 2024. We highly recommend this as an RV spot to relax and enjoy the amazing views. Shout out to Debbie in the gate house - she's amazing!

Beautiful well planned tv camping by lake. Does not feel like city yet it is. We dont usually have dining, entertainment, etc right at our door but here it was easy access. Went to IMAX & Cosm. Fun. Only issue bath houses need a refresh & cleaning.

Very clean and well kept campground. Most sites are right on the water. Some highway noise but the beauty outweighs the noise. We loved it some much we stayed and extra 3 days. Sites 86 and 87 are very nice. 30 to 40 minutes to most activities in Dallas Fort Worth.

When we arrived computers were down and they wouldnt let us in. They said to come back at 2:45. (It was 12:30)!!! Not a lot of places to go in a 40ft rv. We had the Jeep disconnected to went out for a bit and had to take the dogs(couldnt leave them). When we returned there were 5 rvs waiting. Still wouldnt let us in. People just started going in and we did too. Our site was available. Per our neighbors no one had been there for a day!!!!

If only they would put in septic. Otherwise it was an absolutely relaxing trip for work. Thanks to the hosts as they were wonderful and so friendly. Spacious and very well maintained. Dump station for ioit pull a tub so we did not have to move the trailer. We will be back non stop.

If you happened to need to use the public bathrooms, they were as hot as a sauna. No soap in the bathrooms to wash your hands. Sinks need handicap type of handles for water ... more sanitary. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

This is a beautiful well maintained park. Even though the weather was hot while we were there, the breeze off the lake was great and it was quite pleasant sitting in the shade at our campsite. Be sure to pick a site long enough for your RV. Some of the sites are pretty tight. The only downside to the park is the highway noise from the nearby freeway.

We drove out to the park to camp for a week. Our lot was underwater. The power post had about 4 inches of water all around it. We got online and saw another size to be available. The recreation.gov site would not successfully let us make a site change. Tried to call the number for help and heard a recording saying the system was down and they couldn't take calls. Stopped the Park Ranger on site and explained my situation and he said he could not do anything to help us (worthless). We went back up the entrance and the person said he couldn't help us. He did get on line and he said his system showed the site we were trying to move to as being booked. So I sent an email to recreation.gov saying I canceled my reservation on line and wanted a full refund. They did nothing with this for weeks. Then I get a message from them saying the refund request was sent to the The facility manager . And that was weeks ago. Nothing. no refund not explanation. Recreation.gov and Hickory Creek Park management are worthless. Took my money and time and gave me nothing!

Great location in the north Dallas metro area, a real oasis from the concrete and traffic. We really enjoyed staying here and will be back when we are in the area again. There was plenty of firewood on the ground, and shopping for groceries and fuel are a 10 minute drive. The bath houses were okay, the water was nice and hot. Some dissatisfiers are the poor condition of many of the fire rings, the condition of some of the bath house fixtures, i.e., the benches in the handicap accessible showers, the signs posted throughout the campground stating "No glass containers". There was no mention of the latter in the recreation.gov Need to Know information and it is not stated in the campground rules.
