We stayed in Site #10 and Site #11 and had a blast. We brought a dog, 4 kids aged 2 to 14 and were never bored. Site 11 has some uneven terrain, but amazing views of the sunset. If you fish, there is a nice area you can walk down to and fish while still in view of the camper. Bathrooms were so-so. There is a lot of airplane traffic overhead as you're near DFW airport. I would highly recommend and will certainly go again. This is my 7th or 8th time visiting and we always have a blast.

The campground was nice and we loved the spot we were in. However, on Saturday we were looking for a geocache in the park and walked out in an open area (probably 50 yards behind site 4, which was a park host campsite) when the hostess came out of her camper and I overheard her tell her husband honey, there are people in our backyard. When we walked back through after we found the geocache she stopped us and asked us if we were staying in the park. Then she told us we were walking in their backyard area and we should be walking on the trails because she feeds the wildlife and likes to watch them and what we were doing would be better suited to do in the primitive campground area. We tried to explain geocaching, but she her attitude was like we were trespassing on her own private property. We were very offended because we were a lot farther away from her camper than the camper in the spot next to her and werent disturbing anything. A while later, her husband got in his truck and drove to the site across from us and got out and started cleaning out the fire pit - we kind of felt like he was spying on us like we were bad people or something. It was a very odd, uncomfortable feeling and I was grateful we were only staying that night and leaving the next day. People like that shouldnt be hosts.

I love the interactive map for booking. Wish you could get a better view of each site (not just an aerial view). Also wish there were more openings, but that's not something you can control. I enjoy all of the amenities and appreciate the bathroom maintenance.

Beautiful campground, lots of shade, large spaces that are well spread out. All this and close to everything in Waco! Perfect location to visit friends and have a get a way.

We loved Hickory Creek Park. The park was clean and well taken care of. The workers at the entrance were friendly and helpful. I only used the restroom once and it seemed clean, if a little old. There were only things that we didn't like. 1. The air traffic noise from DFW. We were right under the flight path! All day every day about ever 5-10 minutes there was another jet flying over. 2. We stayed in site 10. It was a back in site and it was up on a hill. So backing in was a challenge since this was only our 3rd time to ever back up our trailer. Fortunately, some friendly people came to help advise my husband while he was in process. If not for them, we may have given up. It would have been nice if that was noted in the site information on the website. But we had a great stay and will definitely come back. We will just pick a different site next time.
