I camp Hickory Creek A LOT as it is so close to my house. This last time, I was in site 36 for the 1st time. I prefer to be on the water but there weren't any available at the time. Site 36 is just across the street from the water and offers great shade. I love the wildlife at Hickory Creek, I happened upon a fairly newborn fawn curled up in some tall grass and a momma hawk had a nest with 3 babies just above my campsite. Love Hickory Creek

Hickory Creek is a great place to stay. We were visiting our son who lives in Denton and had a rented camper trailer. Although we were only 10 minutes from our son, it felt like we were out in the country. Great views of Lewisville lake. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom facilities were good - large shower/dressing areas. Each camper spot had a picnic table, charcoal grill and fire pit. We had a couple of nice fires there with wood we purchased at the nearby Albertsons. We will definitely stay there again! We could hear a little bit of traffic noise, but not bad. The park is in an airplane flight path, so there were some planes overhead now and again.

Hickory Creek is our go-to spot, for convenience and also for the amenities it provides. Great proximity to the lake, sites are always clean, no disturbances to note, the Hickory Creek police regularly drive through to check on things. We always have a great time here, a marked improvement from most state parks. My only knock on it is the 1-hole dump site. For a campgrounds that I believe can hold upwards of 100 RVs there is only 1 hole in the ground to dump. Granted, it has lanes on both sides of it so the next person can be at the ready when the first guy is done dumping. Never had to wait longer than probably 30 minutes but it can be a logjam at times.

This is a hidden gem in the DFW Urban sprawl. The park hosts are helpful and keep the park up. There are many shaded spots available with lake access.Clean bathrooms are a plus.

Just a great park. Our spot was level and clean upon arrival. Views of the lake and sunsets awesome. There are a lot of restaurants and shopping close by. A relaxing weekend.

Enjoy the walking trails. Peaceful and scenic. Sunsets are beautiful. Part of our stay was in site 36. Great shade but muddy when it rains. Also last step down from RV was right on the edge of the asphalt which had about 2" dropdown to grade. Site 36 is also difficult to back into with a large rig due to the cable guard posts on each side of the road. Second half of our stay was in Site 55 which is probably the easiest back-in site I have used in 25+ years of RVing. That site is spacious and has a lot of grass.

This site is heavily inclined and the campsite is decreased due to a large tree. We werent able to extend our awning out, but theres access to the water on the other side of the street. We ended up using 6+inches of leveling on the front wheels. I wouldnt recommend.
