Awesome campground. Abundant deer was a bonus.

The park is very nice but the condition of the bathroom is horrible, old and out of order, doors off stalls and filth everywhere! Very disappointing for such a nice park

We love Hickory Creek Campground. We would love it more if the playground had been replaced. We would also love a designated swim beach.

This is a beautiful location and sites are fairly spacey. The primary challenge is the people that use their sites for parties and family reunions. I could barely squeeze by with a trailer when I arrived on a Sunday afternoon. People were parked half in the grass on both sides of the road. They should require guests that dont fit in the paved portion of the site to use overflow parking located in the center area. Theres more than enough of that. It would also be nice if there was enforcement of not parking off the pavement in general. Lots of people with boats parked in the grass. Again, theres plenty of overflow parking.

This location offers easy access to many DFW suburbs, especially Frisco and Denton. Park is beautiful with gate access from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Location is near some good restaurants adjacent to an upscale community. RV Camping spots are perfect with electric, water, fire ring, picnic table and, sometimes lantern poles. Many have lakeside or lake view access. There are tons of deer, ducks and other birds. The sunrises and sunsets are nothing short of stunning. Campground staff are friendly and available. The only downside are the restroom and shower facilities. They are very outdated and in poor repair. I used them only as required, which fortunately, wasn't often. I stayed in the winter in my RV which was winterized so showing was a necessity. I have stayed several times while working in the area and would certainly return.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hickory Creek. 12 days all together. We had to move around (our reservations were last minute) but each spot was great. The folks at the front gate are super helpful and nice. For shopping needs, theres a Walmart and Albertsons (grocery store) about 5 minutes away (if that). This is our first experience in an Army Corp of Engineer site and it left a very good impression.

Nice facilities, good walking paths, great spot on the lake, BUT definitely more of a spacious rv park than a general camp ground

Lovely clean park with beautiful trails for walking, biking and hiking. Sites are large with water and electrical hook ups.

We had a nice lake side spot in #28. The view of the lake was great! It was nice being able to camp only 25 minutes from home but you do hear the highway noise from the campground at all hours so its not as peaceful as some other parks. The picnic table was aged, splintery and warped. Also, the fire ring placement in our site was between 2 trees and the grill so was no way to sit around with chairs and enjoy it in the evening. I walked around and looked at a few other sites near us and most had awkward fire rings, some were damaged and unusable, with the rings bent and sticking up out of the ground.

This is the first time we've been to this park but it won't be the last. The grounds are well kept and clean. The check in hostess was very pleasant and it was a very enjoyable trip.
