The park is beautiful, the trees the lake, so nice-the bathrooms , however, were awful. Spiders everywhere, clogged shower drains (which were reported to a camp host when we camped there in November). Too many people letting their dogs run loose or leaving them in their camper barking and whining . One camper near us left their two dogs alone everyday, we felt sorry for the dogs, but good heavens, they were LOUD.

Campground is awesome and well kept . Camp host kept campsites cleaned between guest turnover. Bathrooms could use a little attention as half the showers were out of order and some toilets were out of order. Bathrooms had hot water so that was a positive! We had a great time in the park and will return.

We love staying here at Hickory Creek while visiting family in the DFW area. Love the open sites, seeing wildlife & feeling like youre in the countryside right in the middle of town.

We were there Nov. 14-17 2024. The weather was amazing. We had site 30, right on the water. Love the site, had some shade trees. Only had one issue. Thursday night we had a fire. Friday night we also had a fire, but then someone came by and said Denton County was under a burn ban and we had to put it out. A few hours later we took the dogs for a walk and saw 4 sites that had fires going; One of which was right next to a park host and they were on site. Would've been nice if we were told when we checked in and also for park staff to monitor everyone. We always cook by fire so we wouldn't have gone had we been notified.

We always love our time at Hickory Creek. The campground is always wonderful, but this time the lake kicked our booties and most had to go to the dr the following 2 days we came home. 3 of the 5 of us came home with ear infections and I came home with a bacterial skin infection. May need to have the water tested

We really enjoyed the park , not many bad sites. Looks like you could have some fun group get togethers or a lot of the sites are not to close to others so you just chill and enjoy.

We camp at this location a lot it is one of our favorite spots close to home. Normally I don’t have any bad comments with this park unfortunately this time I will say that we were out there Fourth of July weekend for 11 days and after the weekend of the Fourth of July no one attended the bathrooms for four days so they were dirty for four days.
And I’m not sure but it seems like in the past the bathrooms had air circulating through them like maybe a fan or an air conditioning unit or something to that effect this time there was no air in the bathrooms were extremely hot and suffocating. That’s not a gripe about the bathrooms ventilation that’s just me noticing that in the past I did not have breathing problems in the bathroom and this trip I did.

The weather turned out to be much colder than we expected when we planned our trip, but other than that, it was great. The ranger ir volunteer at the gate was very helpful and friendly and a ranger came by with a hair dryer to enable us to have running water at the site. The water pipe had been allowed to freeze prior to our arrival. We definitely want to come back. It was quiet, peaceful, and we had lovely views of the lake. The only ways it would have been better is if the temperature had been its seasonal normal and there was a sewer hookup at the site.

Where to start! Check in was perfect- social distancing perfection- Location- less than 2 miles to abundant shopping of all types- Site- our site was only about 100 feet from the water - no noise from the interstate however that was not all the sites- choose carefully Cleanliness- restrooms were great - the sites well we found alcohol bottles around the fire ring and dog feces in several places( only down side of our experience )There was some speeders and didnt see a Sign or our camp host Would definitely camp here again!!

Park was nice and clean. But the 10:00pm curfew was more than an annoyance, we were locked out the first night when we arrived at 10:04 after making a wrong turn on a Dallas FRWY. No where in the paperwork did we see a 10 oclock curfew except on the back of the window sticker when we checked in which is a little late to advise somebody of the time to be back. We found this to be more than inconvenient.
