One of the nicest parks in the North Texas area. I enjoy the privacy and the fact there is no day-use for non-campers.

We were at the park from Sunday till Wednesday. I understand there has to be park maintainance. But on Monday, they were mowing, All. Day. Long. and if that wasn't bad enough, on Tuesday they were using a chainsaw from 8 am till 1 pm. It was just noisy almost the entire time we were there. And we are ones that like to hang out outside and enjoy nature. Then on top of the park people just making noise, they let the people next to us renovate their camper the entire time we were there. They started at 7 am and didn't stop till after 7 pm and just kept filling up every dumpster with basically the entire inside of their camper. I couldn't believe they allowed that to happen. Saw, Hammers, Mowers, Chainsaws.... I just wanted to lay in the hammock and read a book. Couldn't enjoy this trip. too much noise

We were able to get a america the beautifulPass here as its an Army Core-of engineers park. Staff was friendly and helpfull when we needed more time after the gate closed. Our sight was at the nee of the lake by a small hill. Quiet with plenty of space for our dogs to play a bit. Saw Blue Herons, cranes , and small birds of all kinds . Would stay again. Prices are also very good. Bathrooms are nice and clean.

Campground is clean and well run. Access to the lake is great in most every campsite.

Great location, quiet, seems remote but close to convinces. Have stayed there several times.

We were at Hickory Creek for a week. Three days during the middle of the week, jets flew over the campground constantly at low altitude. Apparently, Hickory Creek is in the landing pattern for DFW. Every 30 seconds or so, another jet, and another jet, and another jet, low enough to occasionally read the logos. Four out of seven days were fine in terms of the noise. It appeared that DFW changed the landing pattern to a different area, probably to spread the noise around to different neighborhoods. On the day we left, the jets were back.

Also, none of the Men's restrooms that I tried were open. I tried to use 3 of them. All were padlocked. Oddly, all of the women's restrooms that my wife used were all open, even though the Men's rooms in the same building were padlocked. I can imagine the uproar if the opposite occurred and the women's rooms were locked while the Men's rooms were open. I also did not see any signs that directed Men to a restroom that was open. They were just padlocked for no apparent reason. I have not been to another campground anywhere where this occurred. Restrooms were either all open or maybe a few were completely shut down, but a few remained completely open. I find the Hickory Creek situation odd.

Besides the noise and restroom situation, I loved everything about the campground. There are many lakefront and lake-view sites. Most are reasonably flat, spacious, and nicely spaced between other sites. I would stay here again if I could determine when the jets were not in a takeoff or landing pattern over the campground.
