Excellent facilities, friendly staff, beautiful place and good place for stargazing at night. If you want to go away from city hubbub and have quiet stay this is the place.

So excited to finally have water levels rising. Sowell Creek and all Lake Proctor parks have always been an accommodating place to camp. Electronic only payments are a new issue to navigate, and gate attendance not always present are too; however by reserving camping at Recreation.gov and paying at the kiosk for day use passes, I had no trouble. I left a copy of my online reservation in my truck window when gate attendants weren't available to provide a window sticker, and used it when park ranger checked me at boat ramp. No troubles. Looking forward to water levels rising further!

A very nice park. Nice herd of deer. Hard to get TV signal.

Sowell Creek is a wonderful place to camp, we frequently camp there due to it being a quiet place to get away with some really beautiful sunsets and sunrises! I recommend this place to anyone that is looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city!

The park itself is a nice park. Nice covered tables, hookups worked, and great fishing. The issue was the park restroom and shower. The park has 3 locations but only one worked. Then to make it worst, the one working didn't have hot water. Ugh! The play ground was also closed for over a year. Hopefully the government or whoever is responsible can get things fixed.
