A decent COE, we stayed for 2 weeks. The bathrooms and showers were decent, but no ventilation. There were 4 days in a row that they were not cleaned though, may be due to staffing issues. I would have rated higher if our campground was cleaned when we got there. I had to clean up the trash around due to risk of our dog getting to it. Chicken bones and rib bones as well as bottle caps and general trash. This is unacceptable. Camp area around table not raked, which would have taken care of the trash left behind. Balloon strings and tassel left behind on table pavilion rafters. We definitely left it in betters shape than when we got there.

We had a pleasant four night stay at the Sowell Creek Park COE Campground. After the first night when some hunters left their campsite about 3:00a.m. in search of their early morning prey, but didn't take their dogs with them with, the rest of the nights were very peaceful. The sites are in loops which provide not ample, but good spacing between sites. Each site had a covered picnic table area and fire ring. Plenty of paved roadways in the park to allow for good walks.

Check in was at 2:00 but we called and they said we could come early. The park had been closed for several weeks due to high water and was reopening that day. But apparently they hadn’t done any troubleshooting. In our section of campground there was a water line break so all Water was off. Then we plugged in and all electric was off. The ranger fixing the water said he wasn’t allowed to fix the electric and didn’t hustle to get someone there who could. They did get it fixed but our day guest who was meeting us to kayak had to park on the grass since so many repair trucks were around. We got called out for parking in the grass. Beautiful time kayaking. Shady sites. Just a rough beginning to our camp out
