We stayed on site #1, with our 40' motorhome. The site was easy to back into, level enough, and more than big enough for our RV. We had a good view of the lake, lots of birds and deer to watch. A quiet place, dark skies for star gazing, a relaxing stay. Our ATT cell and data service worked well, our DISH satellite TV had a clear shot of the sky, all was good. Water pressure was good, 50amp electric power worked well without any interruptions, and out site came with a sewer hookup. We will stay here again when in the area.

#1 - I would give Sowell Creek an Excellent review if they had mowed the grass & weeds---even just the sites that were occupied! That was probably only about 10% of the sites. #2 - There's a perfectly new fishing dock sitting in the water & for whatever reason, it cannot be used! It may not be in it's permanent location because of the fluctuation of the water level, but for heaven's sake, make it available to the campers who come to the lake to fish! #3 - Loop 1 has 7 sites with full hookups including 50 amp service. You lose many long-term (2-week) campers because you continue to allow folks to reserve those sites for 1 or 2 nights. Short-term campers don't have to have sewer hookups! Many campers who would like to be there for 2 full weeks cannot have a spot without having to move during their stay. At some point during the fall the park closes part of its available campground making the availability of full hookup sites even more scarce.We love Sowell Creek, but there's always room for improvement.

Great stay unfortunately there was a burn ban in place the last 3 visits even though the risk of fire from a fire ring is very small. The lighting is nonexistent so if you get there after dark the pads are very difficult to locate you will need help to get on your site.

Nice quiet and scenic place to overnight or spend a few days. Only issue was very limited television over antenna. All the more reason to enjoy the outdoors!

There is only one set of restrooms open (for several months now). We were on loop one so lots of traffic around us from the other loops that are not full hook ups. More dumpsters are needed as the two that were available were overflowing. The park is kept mowed and clean. We really are thankful for the recent enforcing of no vehicles parked on the grass around the campsites.

Major Issues
@RichardF767024 · Camped on Nov 9, 2020 at Campsite #1
The only complaint is that only one restroom is open in the park. The signs on the other ones says it will be closed for 10 days but that sign was on it, about a month ago also.
