Great wide open park for a walk. Hosts extremely helpful. Lots of wild life!Sunsets were fantastic every night. Dec is quite windy but still able to have a few bonfires.Be careful of the sand burrs if you go in the grass.

The cell signal at Sowell sucks! We couldn’t get online. For full timers, cell service is very important. There are tons of deer in the area. They stay in the woods though so the worry about Lyme disease is minimal. The campground itself is older. We had electric and water hookups that worked fine. The lakefront is right there and beautiful to look at. Dump station was usable and easy to get in and out of. It is a nice place to “get away from it all.”

The park was very well maintained and clean. We did have a few issues though. There was a fire ban while we were there but we saw several campfires every night of our stay. When we asked at the gatehouse, the attendant was very nice but seemed unconcerned about the fires. We were ther for 4 nights and never saw a ranger or park attendant patrol the campground. We saw several dogs off their leashes and running around other sites, which would have been a big issue if we had our dogs with us. The party that was staying in the group site played their music very loudly and could be heard while in our camper with the A/C running until 3AM!!!!! As nice as the park and our site were, we will think twice before coming back to this park. Why have fire bans and rules if you aren't going to enforce them?
