We needed a port in a storm, and randomly chose Potters Creek Park because it was near Golden-Cheeked Warbler habitat. Guadalupe State Park was our goal, but it was full. This park was only 30 miles away. And it was a beauty of a park! I randomly chose a campsite, since there were no pictures or maps to show the actual sites & how they were treed. Our site was on a nice gentle hill with a beautiful view of the lower campsites (which were nearly all empty) and the reservoir (which looked to be 20+ feet below normal). The campsite was clean. It had the facilities we wanted. It was relatively near the bathrooms/shower house, which were clean. Neighbors moved in and out, but all were quiet and courteous. We had Black-Chinned Hummingbirds in our campsite, and we identified another 20 species inside the park as we sat & watched Nature from the site, or as we walked about. A pair of nesting Scissor-tailed Fly Catchers were a special treat to us (we live in Minnesota, and it's rare to get a Scissor-Tail up here).Part of what made the experience positive was the sites were spaced far enough apart to achieve some privacy and enjoy quiet. As well as the park being less than half full when we stayed there. I can imagine it's jam-packed on a hot summer weekend.Potters Creek Park forbids "day use", meaning transient fisherpeople, boaters, picnickers, etc. I believe that contributed to the positive experience we had.But by forbidding day-use (people wishing to visit without staying overnight), some nice group facilities go without use. A lovely group picnic shelter can't be used unless it's rented by someone staying overnight. It seems a great waste.I understand a new day-use only part of the park is being developed. But it's taking years longer than it ought.Thank you for making this park available to us! In these days of political groups beating up Parks & their employees & their funding, we appreciate still being able to access a park & stay there.

This is a nice CG and had the weather been better (there was a heat done over the area when we visited) and had the lake not been so low, we would have enjoyed it more. Theres lots to do in the area.

We enjoyed our stay in Potter Creek a lot, the restroom/showroom is very warm despite the cold weather. The camping pavillion has a nice cover to hang out lights and provide a shelter from morning fog and rain. The host is very kind and we definitely recommend this park to anyone who is interested!

Level asphalt site with lots of space between neighbors including a space for your tow vehicle. Covered picnic table. Quiet evenings, lots of trees, great view of the lake. Day trips to Austin and San Antonio.

Have stayed at Potters Creek many times and still love it. Have been on hiatus from camping for 10 years, so was excited to see if it still held the same high quality as before. Couldn't have been more pleased and will pass favorable recommendation on to anyone who asks.

My only regret is that I could not stay longer. Loved my site. Enjoyed walking the trails. I definitely will be coming back and staying longer. MsPat

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
