They maintain hours of 9am to 9pm when the gates are locked. Get there late and you're locked out. The host makes rounds and locks the gate. Show up during rounds and you can't get in until the host returns. Worst hospitality we've experienced.

We camped during the week, so we had the park mostly to ourselves. The park and restroom facilities are also very clean. My only suggestion is to place individual trash bins in the bathroom stalls for the woman if they are asking to not flush certain material due to the septic system.

Potters creek is a beautiful park on Canyon Lake. It's not packed out like state parks and has good facilities.The staff at the entrance were friendly and helpful. The ground is rocky - if you are camping, bring strong pegs and hammer/mini sledge. It can feel exposed in windy weather in some places but many sites are under tree cover.Sites are spacious and well appointed with water and electricity.Make sure you understand the main gate open and closing times so as not to be caught out.

We love this park. Spacious spots with many having tree cover. Picnic tables are all covered. And plenty of deer wandering thru. We did have a fox come by for a visit first night.

First time visitors to the park and we were pleasantly surprised about how nice it is. Great water pressure, clean power and a clean dump site. Will definitely be back

We really enjoyed our stay at Potter Creek Park! The area was very peaceful and relaxing - perfect for a quite getaway. The facilities were clean and well maintained, and the surroundings were beautiful. We would definitely come back again!

Always Great to go for 2 weeks, wish I could stay longer! But I can't go back for a month. I'm not a winter Texan, I live in Blanco 20 minutes away. Gate attendants are very nice and the volunteers are also! Let me stay Longer please. Thank you Richard Palmer.

We booked for 3nights, in L27. We had to get a hotel the last night because the ant problem had escalated to our blowup mattress inside the tent. We noticed several areas where ants were active from the very first, but as we cooked and ate at the picnic table they became steadily worse. We came back the last morning, after we had packed everything up, and parked over in the tent loop on the far side of park near the beach. I parked at 122 and sat there 2 hrs waiting for my partner to finish up a zoom call and not one ant did i see there. I don't know what happened but L27 had not been maintained in awhile. It would seem that it is possible to remove ants.

Well maintained sites and facilities. They will not let you check-in before 3:00 and the lake is extremely low.

Sites were clean and looked great. Quiet since the boat ramp still closed. Very pleasant stay.

This campground has beautiful views of Canyon Lake. We were in site 108 and could sit and look at the lake. Saw deer every evening walking around the area. Deer were everywhere. We could have happily stayed longer.

Camp was clean. Security was good.It would be nice to have access to enter camp later in the evening so we could attend a show or evening Riverwalk ride.Also posting photos of the campsites on recreation.gov would have been helpful.

The photos on the site are so inviting. I wanted to celebrate our 44th anniversary camping next to a lake. Immediately after checking in, I got a bad feeling as we approached our spot-(L4-95). The lake was so low, you could hardly see the water. We tried to find a place to swim. The entire lake was closed to boating and swimming. There was no access to the entire lake, even outside the campgrounds. Big waste, we left after 45 minutes and will not revisit Canyton lake in the foreseeable;e future. Drought conditions were never mentioned in the reservation process, and Canyon Lake being closed defeated the whole surprise I had in mind for my anniversary celebration. Big Dud!

The campsites were not cleaned prior to our visit. There was animal feces on the tables and on the ground, cobwebs in the rafters, etc. The bathrooms were breeding grounds for mosquitos and other insects. The spaces were good-sized and there was plenty of room for parking. The 3 pm opening of the reservation was not observed, which was good because we arrived early, but might be confusing.

Lots of fire ants. Bathrooms were not as clean as they could be. Workers were very polite but understaffed.

The water was hard to get to but once we figured out how to get to it we had a lot of fun. We would definitely stay here again.

Potters creek is beautiful waking up to that every morning was so nice, we where in loop 1 at site 16 . We didn't have a way to move so one of the gentlemen that maintain the park kind man he moved us to site 25 we where so blessed that the people there where so kind and helpful will be returning next chance we get. If I could rate 4.5 stars I would the only reason it's not is because when I was in the showering wasp came out of the wasp nest that was on the bottom of the shower stall i know im a yuppie but that was a little scary.

We needed a port in a storm, and randomly chose Potters Creek Park because it was near Golden-Cheeked Warbler habitat. Guadalupe State Park was our goal, but it was full. This park was only 30 miles away.And it was a beauty of a park! I randomly chose a campsite, since there were no pictures or maps to show the actual sites & how they were treed. Our site was on a nice gentle hill with a beautiful view of the lower campsites (which were nearly all empty) and the reservoir (which looked to be 20+ feet below normal).The campsite was clean. It had the facilities we wanted. It was relatively near the bathrooms/shower house, which were clean. Neighbors moved in and out, but all were quiet and courteous.We had Black-Chinned Hummingbirds in our campsite, and we identified another 20 species inside the park as we sat & watched Nature from the site, or as we walked about. A pair of nesting Scissor-tailed Fly Catchers were a special treat to us (we live in Minnesota, and it's rare to get a Scissor-Tail up here).Part of what made the experience positive was the sites were spaced far enough apart to achieve some privacy and enjoy quiet. As well as the park being less than half full when we stayed there. I can imagine it's jam-packed on a hot summer weekend.Potters Creek Park forbids "day use", meaning transient fisherpeople, boaters, picnickers, etc. I believe that contributed to the positive experience we had.But by forbidding day-use (people wishing to visit without staying overnight), some nice group facilities go without use. A lovely group picnic shelter can't be used unless it's rented by someone staying overnight. It seems a great waste.I understand a new day-use only part of the park is being developed. But it's taking years longer than it ought.Thank you for making this park available to us! In these days of political groups beating up Parks & their employees & their funding, we appreciate still being able to access a park & stay there.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
