We always rent multiple campsites, plus the pavilion each July, for our annual family camping trip. This year, one of our family members made a special trip to the park to check out the boat ramp to see whether wed be able to launch our pontoon boat and was told no. Wow! All he wanted/needed to do was check the levels. Im sure the gate employees could have checked the dates we were coming to confirm paid admittance and let him in. We understand the need for security but if staff were that concerned, Im sure hed have been willing to ride with a staff member, check the water levels and go about his merry way.

Potters Creek Iād one of our favorite camping destinations. The only down side is Canyon Lake is easily 10ā low. Without rain to support the flow it will continue to drop. The park is great though with paved roads and pads to park on.

If have kids bring bikes, skateboards etc...Water is great but no playground for kids and no real hiking trails. Water shoes a must. Much friendlier and happier staff then past years.

There was a group of campers that took over the entire area for the better part of a week. They had about 5 sites and one on the end had a very large common area. They blasted country music on loudspeakers all day, had floodlights on battery pack and kept the place lit up all night. Could not go out and enjoy new Years eve fireworks as they were swearing and overall nasty. I don't know if you can ban campers but these guys were local and apparently do this for many holidays. The campers "ringleader" where the congregating took place was site 80 and they were there on New Year's Eve if you can check. They should be banned or segregated so as no to bother everyone else. Also bathrooms weren't cleaned regulary and were actually filty with feces and no toilet paper.

Our visit to Potters Creek on Canyon Lake was very enjoyable. The lake is exceptionally low but still accessible from the Loop 4 camping area. Because of the drought at this time there is a burn ban in place so we couldn't have a campfire. The only complaint we had is the restrooms/showers were disgustingly dirty. We came in on a Tuesday and they were not "cleaned" and restocked with toilet paper until late Thursday & early Friday. However, they were never cleaned so that we felt safe using them. We will camp there again as we love the park, but hopefully this situation will be resolved.
Everything was excellent the people on the gate was very helpful and friendly

We enjoyed working remotely with a lake view. We arrived Thursday and left on Tuesday, Dec 3-8. The park was full on Saturday but emptied on Sunday. Even full it was rather quiet. There was a bald eagle soaring by every day, deer, and a pair of Egyptian Geese. Only one loop was open but you could walk all through the closed areas. The treed lots will be great for summer with views of the lake. Its only an hour drive from San Antonio. Shopping in Wimberley and New Braunfels is close by. Were definitely coming back.

This is a well maintained camping spot and even though we were too late to reserve a spot with trees, we still had great water access. Sadly, there were two well shaded empty spots next to us for the two days we were there - apparently someone had forgotten to cancel. The camping spots were well spaced. My only complaint was the absolutely silly rule that you can't go in before 3pm. We arrived around 2:40pm and were told we would have to wait until 3pm to enter the park. It wasn't even that someone was in our spot - it was just "the rule." Someone needs to change this. This is just about giving power to the wrong person.

Beautiful view of lake. From personnel observation ( I am disabled) the disabled sites should be closer to the shower house

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
