The photos on the site are so inviting. I wanted to celebrate our 44th anniversary camping next to a lake. Immediately after checking in, I got a bad feeling as we approached our spot-(L4-95). The lake was so low, you could hardly see the water. We tried to find a place to swim. The entire lake was closed to boating and swimming. There was no access to the entire lake, even outside the campgrounds. Big waste, we left after 45 minutes and will not revisit Canyton lake in the foreseeable;e future. Drought conditions were never mentioned in the reservation process, and Canyon Lake being closed defeated the whole surprise I had in mind for my anniversary celebration. Big Dud!

Nice Park, and the Lady at the gate was very helpful and nice. We have been there twice, and we will be back.

My family and I enjoyed our camping trip at Potter's Creek Park during the month of June. We took our own jet skies and were able to put them in and take them out of the water very easily with the ramp accessibility which was very clean and has plenty of parking. We love that the park has a "NO DAY USE" policy, due to the little ones. We went to the Canyon Dam which is beautiful at sunrise and we also did the Guadalupe River trail that is nearby. It is a nice walk especially in the mornings when everything is still calm, just be sure to take your waters!

This is a beautiful area and includes bathrooms and power outlets for the RVs and for 120V. Every site includes a parking space for 3 cars and the RV, a grill, a fire pit, and a picnic table with a roof.Wally and Esther, gave us a warm welcome at the entrance of the park and even though the park was fully reserved for the 4th of July weekend, they went above and beyond to help us find and secure a site. We highly recommend Potters Creek Park. My whole family had a blast.

Nice park with very level sites and view of the lake. Everything worked well. My disappointment was there seemed to be a lot of the shaded sites 'unavailable' with no one camping there. Quite a few grass-burs as well.

This place was great! We're from Denver and wish we could have brought our boat! Camping was awesome though. Hook ups were in good shape, parking surface was level, the location was perfect! We want to come back with the camper and the boat next time!

Nice RV park by lake. Look for shaded areas (inside the loop) if it's hot.

Beautiful campground with unacceptable maintenance.
We checked in on Sunday and the dumpsters were full. They were finally emptied Tuesday afternoon. The bathhouses were dirty and smelled like pee. It’s hard for me to believe this is the Army Corps of Engineers. I have to think there is a lack of management.
If the campground was not a beautiful place it would have only been given 1 star.

Overall the experience was fabulous. It would have helped to know someone turned off our breaker box we hooked into before we arrived to know our power wasnt working but we figured it out. The bathroom was kept stocked but a message about bringing your own hand soap to the bathroom would have been helpful and if they swept away the bugs on the floor in the restroom would have been desired. The grounds were kept nice. A trash pickup around the lake is needed because of guests that dont have manners. Reminders: leave no trace to all guests.

Nice local get away. Quiet in the winter, different beast in the summer!
Don't like the drones we keep seeing in the park.

Due to extreme cold weather we did not go to Potters Creek. Attempted to cancel our reservation days within the allowable timeframe. Due to Rec.gov website difficulties could not process our refund. Weeks later we are still trying to get our refund money back.
Very bad experience this time with Rec.gov & Potters Creek management.

The park manager was so mean. It makes our visitors very unconformable with so many are children. This is really not American way of treating the US citizen.

Great site and campground. The gate person was also very helpful. The bathroom cleaners were horrible, a female actually came into the bathrooms while myself and another Gentlemen were using the facilities and rudely told us to hurry and get out so they could clean.

We camped at Potters Creek the first week of January. Some of the loops were closed for the winter and two full hookup loops are closed due to failure of the sewage system. We stayed in Loop 4 space 95 which was plenty long enough for our 35 trailer and truck and had a view out over the lake. Our space was level (some on the other side of the loop are a little bit sloped), and spaces are nicely far apart. The bath house was very clean, shower water was hot with good volume. The only negative about this park which Ive seen in other reviews is that they are completely anal about not letting anyone check in before 3:00. This is evidently a rule of the Corps office that controls all of the parks on the lake and not the fault of the gate keeper. It is the only Corps campground that Ive been to with this rather obnoxious rule and has nothing to do with giving the hosts time to clean the spaces. Obeying this rule makes for a more pleasant start to staying here. This is a wonderful park, I hope they fix the full hookups loops. We will definitely stay here again if were in the area. It is a great center from which to visit San Antonio, Fredericksburg and New Braunfels. In the summer time, a visit to Jacobs Well in Wimberly would be a fun day trip.
