The wildlife was outstanding. I didn't understand why the deer where so different from the whitetail deer I remember, so I looked them up and learned about whitetail subspecies. Anytime I can learn something interesting, that's a fun trip. The hosts were every so friendly. As usual, the sites were spacious and the park was sparkling clean. We love Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds, and this one was no exception.

For a change, the staff at the gate were accommodating efficient and friendly. Unusual. The restrooms were in reasonable condition, and on this occasion were open for the whole time we were camping. A pleasant improvement. The slipway is very slippery, and the docking area was very dirty with bird manure.

The park itself, the part that was open, was very nice. However, 3 of the 4 loops are closed and there is NO day use at this park. Between the rules and regulations and the staff, this was the most inhospitable, unwelcoming ACoE park we have ever been to. You can NOT check in before the stroke of 3 pm, even if your site was empty, which it was. At that 3:00 check in, my husband was charged the full rate because I was already out on the lake, instead of the prepaid Federal access discount, even though they had seen me and my handicap earlier. They gave us more hassles on the next day when we tried moving to our other prepaid, pre-reserved site. It was like they were determined to make every encounter as difficult and unreasonable as humanly possible! And even though they knew we were trying to not waste the WHOLE afternoon waiting for the 3:00 check in to get out on the water, they did not even bother to mention that there was an open boat ramp (#20) just a block or two down the shoreline. The Nazi-like attitude of the staff really took the fun out of the trip and caused a lot of unnecessary frustration.

On a tour throughout Texas, we stayed 2 nights at Potters Creek. The park was beautifully kept and lovely. There were some camping areas closed due to septic problems, but all the roads were open for peds and bikes. We had a lovely 3.5 mile bike ride one morning just touring the park. Our spot was up in the trees, shady and quiet. I would definitely recommend this park.

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
