We had a one night stay at Cranes Mill Park. The campground was very nice and our site backed up to the lake. the lake level was very low with no access to the water at the time of our trip. We took a nice walk around the campground with is fairly large and saw a lot of deer and cacti.

Lovely sites with nice views of the lake. Restrooms decent. Great location in the TX hill country. I'll be back.

The park was nice, clean and well maintained with spacious sites, but I have 2 issues: (1) I KNOW our site was empty when we arrived (30 minutes before check-in), but the camp host refused to let us ingave some lame excuse about lake management. The lake was so low and the boat ramp was closed, so not sure what part of the lake he was managing. Seriously, a 3 pm check-in is late. All other federal and state facilities will let you in if the site is vacant. (2) the gates LOCK at 9 pm, and there is no way in other than to leave our vehicle outside the park and walk in. I have no problems walking, but Im not leaving our $100K truck on that road! Cant even go to dinner in San Antonio, or see local live music because of the early closure. You need a gate code!!! Wont be back because if we cant use the lake or go into town at a normal dinner hour, whats the point?

Had a lovely four night stay at Cranes Mills. Was greeted warmly by Tom at the gatehouse and while I arrived early and was not able to enter the park until 3pm, he kindly directed me to a spot where I could park and stretch my legs until the appointed time. He turned out to be a long time volunteer and was a wealth of knowledge on the park and area. If you like to walk, the campground gives you ample space to do so. Even though there are no hiking trails per se, the campground roads themselves provide you with several miles to stroll while taking in the lake views as well as seeing the many deer who call the park home. Even though this campground is on a lake surrounded by residential homes the nights are nice and quiet. I can't not also mention Kathy one of the other campground hosts. She too is lovely and welcoming. We had a chance to have several neighborly chats during my stay. All in all a great stop and once campground that is on my list to return to.

This is my 3rd year at Cranes Mill in January.. the facilities are very nice, views from campground of the lake are excellent, and bike rides on the park roads are fun with nice views.

Wonderful stay! The host was so kind and welcoming. The only thing wrong was that site #27 did not have electric. We paid for an electric site, but it no electricity. You will not be able to enter after 9:00, so plan accordingly.

Great location next to the water. Great covered picnic area at the site with long pull-through parking. Would come back during the warmer season to enjoy all the activities around the area.

Great place to take a camper for the very first time. Friendly park hosts. Seemed to have beautiful views from every site. I would give it 5 stars, but the bathroom was not well lit.

The park is by a lake. It has 50AMP and Water, no sewer. Sites are spread out. Site is on pavement and has a great picnic table under cover on concrete. Bathhouse is ok, but older. The grounds were not maintained or mowed. They also have fire ants and bugs that needed to be treated. The people at check in are very nice.

Great concrete sites and nice covered picnic table. Grass was freshly cut. Good location for exploring. Enjoyed the herd of deer and sunsets. Only issue is a large family group parties on until 3:30 in the morning one night and there really wasn’t anyone to call that we knew of anyway.

Clean fairly level site, beautiful spot with clean restrooms & 1 short trail. Not much to though (no beach or hiking) but great spot for relaxing!
