We selected this site as it is centrally located to many fun Hill Country towns in the area. Site was spacious, with room for fifth wheel, pickup and an extra vehicle. Lake is down 48% but we were not there for water activities. Hookups were sufficient, showers clean, sites clean. Would stay longer if full hookups were available. Will return if in the area again.

Great Park. Level paved sites. Restroom/shower house clean. Deer everywhere.

Close to San Antonio and Ft Sam Houston. A nice quiet campground with concrete parking pads that are very level. Shower/bathroom clean. Front entrance operated by staff and the campground is monitored. Local Sheriff makes rounds also. Plenty of deer in area. Town of Bulverde has majority of usual stores, shops, and fast food. Town of Startzville has a laundry called Spinnerz which is a decent laundry.

First and Foremost this campground is a Core of Engineers campground. With that being said, there are some things that come with that like lake a of staffing to help clean the place up due to budget cut backs. Now the ones that are keeping this place in fairly decent shape are all "Volunteers". So please do not give them a hard time as they do not have any control over anything. There is a 2200 gate lock down (which in my opinion is really really dumb) if they are going to have a gate they need to update this so as to have a key code to open the gate and not an attendant. I was actually staying here to go and visit and attend my sisters retirement from the AirForce (as we are all military). I had to leave the party early so as to get myself and my family back to the campground by the allotted gate lock down time. I was a little distraught by this to say the least. The next thing that I would like to add is that the shower houses were actually in need of some repair, however you can not inform anyone as there are no employees. I was told that there was only two maintenance personnel that were located clear on the other side of the lake. Which is about 30 min away. I was there for a total of eleven days and seen only one COE vehicle enter that area (did not even come through campground portion). In this time frame there should have been a personnel member to bring mower and mow, do some maintenance on the shower houses. Since there was only one functioning shower in the Females shower (as per my wife and children) at the RV sites. No swimming which was a huge disappointment to the kids for sure. We ended up having to go over to Comal Park about 20 min away from campground. It was subpar to say the least (that is a whole other review). With more and more people camping the COE needs to have more funding available to make these parks better. Employee some staff, gate key codes we are adults not children that need a curfew.

We were taking our travel trailer for its first outing so we don't have a lot to compare to. But our experience was great starting with check-in at the entrance through check out the next day. The park overall was nice and quiet and there were paths to walk along the lake. We will definitely be going back again.

Love COE campgrounds. This one was no different. The setting, the spaciousness, the grounds could not have been better. Stayed 3 nights as a kind of midway break between the Atlantic and the Pacific.
