Absolutely a perfect place of peace and quiet. Campsites were well spaced and included a covered picket table. Probably the cleanest and well kept COE recreation area you will ever visit. The trail down to the lake was well marked and recently groomed. The lake level is very low, but South Texas is suffering from 3 year drought.

We had a wonderful 14 day stay in Site 16! The hosts are great. The campground is well kept and the restrooms are heated and clean. Our site was level and very large. Great sunset views. The lake is really down, but still beautiful. The weather could have been warmer and drier, but oh well we still adventured out on our motorcycle and in the Jeep. Luckenbach is a great place to visit and so is Fredrickson. If you get the chance Enchanted State Park, north about 1.5 hours, is awesome! We would love to return again!

We loved our stay at Crane's Mill! It's a terrific location for visiting San Antonio and other area state parks/natural areas. Our site was level, had more than enough space for our 37 foot trailer and our truck, plus an extra space for parking. Our covered picnic table was great and located next to the smoker style grill. The fire pit was also appreciated. Hosts were gracious. Trash was easy to access and the dump station is a two'fer. We camped in the first loop and didn't use the restrooms, but they are very conveniently located. Only note - this park has shorter than usual hours - be sure you understand the times you can enter the gate or risk being an unhappy camper! No gate codes. The gate locks. (Typical of COE parks, but 9pm is pretty early!)We visited the Alamo - it was about a 50 minute ride on a Sunday afternoon. A great trip for history buffs. It was pretty busy, perhaps a weekday would be a better choice. The Heritage Museum of the Texas Hill Country on FM 2673 was delightful! Dinosaur prints and the docent giving the tour was awesome. Great for kids and adults alike. Maven's Grill just down the street from the park had a quite tasty dinner and yummy adult beverages. We will be back!

Camped at site #19. Our 2nd trip to Cranes Mill Park. Excellent get away from hectic, high demanding job. Greatly enjoyed our get away to calm days and peaceful nights. We will be back.

It would be a great park, but half of it was closed. We went here to fish and camp. By closing half the park limited us on places to fish.
Hiking trails were not maintained. Walked down a trail, could see rock boarders, but wasn’t cut or maintained.

Great central location for things to see and do in Texas hill country.
We visited during hunting season and most of the peninsula (except rv sites 1-30) was off limits for pedestrians and vehicles. Check hunt dates if that is a problem for you.

Good campground with fairly asphalt pads and water/electric. The location is great for day trips to the larger cities. There are plenty of options near by for groceries/gas/etc. The grass at both ACE campgrounds (Cranes Mill & Potters Creek) on Canyon lake were uncut. Mowing was being done at the camp hosts spots but nowhere else. We would stay here again.

Nice park. Need to re-visit the ironclad 3 check in. Arrived at 2:43 from Cloudcroft NM. Was told to turn around and come back at 3.

The water was so clear and the boat ramp was easy to use for our kayaks. I wish it had a beach as the rocks are difficult to navigate when trying to swim. We love the small, quiet RV camping area and will come again and again!

Clean, friendly. We love this place and come back every year!

Another beautiful COE park with visible friendly female park host. The park was in desperate need of some mowing. Some sites were mostly leveled and spacious while others had a slight slope but are manageable. Each site has covered patio and fire ring but the county is under a burn ban. Surrounded by a beautiful lake and close to Canyon Lake community.

very nice campground

Since it was Easter weekend there were many large groups gathered at the campsites. They were very drunk and very loud. People were playing music all day and howling at 3 AM. The park host did nothing. We left a day early due to this.

We were there for 3 days Feb 22- Feb 26 and had a wonderful time. We were in spot 19 overlooking the lake. The resort was very quiet this week. The sites have both 50amp and 30 amp hookups and water, no sewer hookups but there is a dump station on the way out.

First few days was perfect. Nice warm weather. Trike riding was really good. Birds and wildlife were abundant. Then winter happened. Miserable! Ice, snow extremely cold. The park staff came through again. They were wonderful.

I very much dislike the 3:00 check in. This is particularly upsetting when the site you have reserved does not have anyone in it, and did not the night before. I arrived early around 2:00 pm and was made to set outside the gate until 2:45 before being let in. In the winter getting in, set up and getting dinner, before dark is difficult. On the day of checkout when our traveling continued, like MANY others, I was out by 10:00 am. I really think a 1:00 out and 2:00 in would be the maximum times.
