Lakeside is not a campground for those roughing it in a tent. The water and electric hookups were nice, the site was large, and the concrete picnic tables had a sturdy metal roof, but these amenities mean very little when the wind is blowing all your stuff away. This campground is usually windy and burn bans are more common than not in Coleman county (according to the ranger and some locals we talked to). if you have an RV and you stay in it, this campground would be ok, but that just isn't our style. The restrooms reminded me of something from a goofy comedy where the sink splashes your crotch and you have to get 1/2 inch from the shower's wall mounted motion sensor to get some water to flow (a spitting dribble). Once again, stay in your RV and use the bathroom in it. There are no trails for hiking or biking, which we were very disappointed about. Our last camping trip was at Daingerfield State Park in northeast Texas and we had a fantastic time there. The rangers were great, and the site was cheap, but we won't be returning.
