We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended twice and stayed the maximum 14 days. This is a beautiful campground. The sites are spacious with shelters over the picnic tables. We didnt feel crowded at all. It was pretty empty until the Easter weekend, when it really filled up. But even then it wasnt terribly loud. There are two dumping stations, which were helpful. We ride our bikes over the dam and explored the area near Flatrock Campground, which was closed. We saw lots and lots of deer every evening. I was glad to see that they are indeed wary of humans, and was disappointed to see several campers putting out food for them. The wildflowers were just coming into full bloom. We enjoyed spectacular sunsets from our site as well as from the dam. We appreciated the help we got from some of the men who were working on a project. We needed a wrench to get the light in my husbands bike secured. They took him to a work area and got him a wrench the right size. So nice. If I could change anything, it would be that all of the bathhouses would be open. We stopped at one and the only thing open for women was the showers. At the one closest to where we were, there were no locks for the showers. That can be uncomfortable. But all were well stocked and cleaned often. It was pretty relaxing and we didnt even fish!

Hordes Creek Lake was beautiful to camp at. I was on Site 12 which opened to the lake. The lake however has algae & Salt Cedar growing in it so the shoreline isnt easily accessible. The peacefulness listening to the birds and looking out to the lake made it a relaxing long weekend. I look forward to staying there again. Womens bathroom is outdated and a lizard lives in there so caution for snakes.

This was one of the most beautiful parks Ive ever been to. We stayed one night, but wish we would have been able to stay a week.

Always a great stay. Nice and quiet. Lake is pretty low again. Bathrooms were locked.
