We spent Easter weekend here with our family. Loved everything about camping in this park! The staff were very friendly!!!

We weren't crazy about this park. While it is on a nice lake, the sites are way too close together, and the rules are not inforced at all. Rules regarding keeping dogs on leashes, number of vehicles per site, number of people per site, and quiet hours are not enforced. We never saw a park ranger or host even do a drive-through. Some people may like this scenario, but we don't. Utilities work well, and sites are gravel/dirt.

With COVID19 Texas State Park closures we needed a place to go out and decompress from being stuck working from home. Found this place in Lake Sommerville that was close to family members and made reservations. The spot we got was not awesome, but it was good. The campsite was level and used gravel. The sitting area had a roof and the table was metal in very good condition. It had a firepit next to it in addition to a separate metal BBQ that was 3-4 ft tall (normal home level). There was little shade in our spot, but there were other campsites that did had good cover. The sun was brutal and the heat was in the high 90's, which made us have to hole up inside the RV until the afternoon when it got cooler. This was on June 3, so choosing to visit in cooler times would have made this super pleasant spot. We had visit of deer day and night and had a nest with baby birds in our sitting area. The boat ramp was really close to our campsite so I took the kayak to the ramp and drove the truck back. Lots of boat, jetski, and kayak traffic. The area was relaxing and had nice views. We did like Yegua and plan to go back. We will choose our campsite carefully, if options are available, or just wait for a non-summer months when it's cooler. Anytime below 80 degrees really :)
