Rocky Point Campground is another well planned COE camping/recreation area. Our site had water and electric. It was a level, back-in site, that was large and overlooking the lake. The lake is large and the area offers many recreational activities. We shopped for supplies in nearby Texarkana which was not far away. Talking with other campers, I discovered that this is a popular destination so you may want to book early.

My husbands family held their family reunion here. It is a beautiful park with very nice facilities. Lovely lake, well maintained and clean restrooms. Will definitely be back!

We have been visiting Rocky Point for many years and have always previously had a wonderful experience and recommended it to all of our friends. It has always been a pristinely kept campground. When we got there, the grass was knee deep and looked as if it had not been mowed for a month. I am highly allergic to insect bites and felt as if I could not get off the concrete. My husband had to do all the walking of our small dog because I was afraid to walk in the knee deep grass. The man in the office of the campground told us that he had no control over the grass and didn't know when it would be mowed. The men's bathroom in D loop needed attention. I called the district Core of Engineers office and left a message for Bill Smith who called me back the next day. He said that a private contractor mowed and that the park had lost it's spot in the mowing cycle because of rain and that the park should be mowed by Thursday. To begin with, if it rains on your day to have the park mowed, the schedule should be redone and everyone moved forward a day instead of having to wait weeks to get it mowed. We came on Sunday afternoon, July 23 and left on the following Friday morning. Our section was mowed about 4:00 on Thursday afternoon which meant that we dealt with the high grass 90 percent of our trip. The park needs to do a better job of getting the grass mowed or move to a contractor who can take care of it in a timely fashion.

Loved the park. Would have liked our site to have been mowed, grass was a little high. But overall, great time at the park. Enjoyed kayaking on the lake.

We left early due to hearing a large tree fall in our campground that destroyed another persons truck/boat. D009 has a large tree that overhangs the rv site and it is dead with a large spot half way up the tree that shows rot. My husband is a degreed retired forester. We did notify the lady at the check in why we were leaving. We left Thursday and received 1 night back but it should have been 2. Anyway, we felt that it was NOT safe to stay the night under the bad tree. Hope they get a few of those bad trees cut down.

Great park but got pretty crowded on weekend! Lots of wind but it is spring ! Space was pretty level and w/e worked great. We would return for another visit. Did not use the facilities.
