This little campground is a gem that I continue to return to year after year! Great camp hosts who helped keep the bears away. Please help keep this beautiful little campground clean and keep bears wild by using the locking bear boxes for your food and toiletries, and taking your trash to the locking dumpsters.

The best camp ground around awesome sites with the creek next to it. I will always camp once a year here

we have been going to Wild Plum annually for more than 35 years. And will continue this tradition. I am aware the 2021 camp host was unable to complete his/her summer duties due to a medical emergency. Unfortunately the Forest Service had to step in to fulfil some of the host's duties. They clearly are understaffed at best and were not able to provide a even a semi-clean environment. Why the Forest Service didn't contact with someone local to fill in is beyond my comprehension. Sierra City has several establishments that somehow keep their cabins, motels & restaurants clean. The bathrooms were filthy and lacking basic supplies - days with no toilet paper, filthy floors, gross fly paper that had not been replaced. When I asked Forest Service staff to hose out or sweep I was told they didn't have a broom or a hose. Perhaps management should have made sure staff had basic cleaning supplies.
So - if you're going to Wild Plum in 2021: with the exception of the pit toilets, it's a fabulous campground, Haypress Creek is wonderful for wading & fishing, lots of incredible hiking in the area. Just bring an extra roll of TP & maybe a broom.
