Love the campground but the camp host was rude. And I dont understand the ridiculous rules with UTVs and dirt bikes. The place is surrounded by trails and you arent allowed to have them in there? I understand not wanting it to be loud and have people speeding, but I feel like most people are respectful of that. Our actual site was terrible. It was so tight we couldnt even have our awning open.

The Logger campground (Tahoe NF) is well maintained. This campground is in a nice stand of east side ponderosa pine. Any interaction with host, FS employees and FS volunteers was positive and friendly. The camp site was pleasant. Rest rooms were as clean as one could hope for in a campground. We arrived on a Saturday and nearly all sites were full. Noise in the campground was normal low rumble and quieted down by about 9pm. There was a bit of what I call light pollution. Several RVs had exterior lighting that pretty much destroyed the night camping experience. I wore a ball cap all evening to block the bight lights. By Sunday 11am we were nearly by ourselves. There was a very orderly exodus as other campers pack up and pulled out.

Stampede reservoir level was very low. The local soil I believe is ash and stone. This eliminates any "beach" area and the soil type leaves a muddy rocky bottom. Shore swimming is not pleasant. Boating, fishing, canoe/kayak and water sports away from shore looked good enough.

When full Stampede reservoir is nice to look at. When very low it is not attractive.
