The sites are far enough apart for good privacy. Good shade. Toilets were clean. The river is nearby to swim or fish. There is a lot of road noise with the highway nearby. The host was there but never saw them. A bit far from services so best to have what you need.

Really nice surrounding. The only negative point is the noise from the nearby road.

Great campground in the Sierra Nevada.. Stayed at Site 22, in Mid July. No problem with bugs, very nice campsite with a large bear box and fire ring. We just stayed overnight on a pass thru, but this is a great overall location to experience the North Lake Tahoe area. Truckee is a 5-7 minute drive, with great dining and shopping options. Tahoe City is a short drive, as is the Donner Pass area, which is not to be missed. Clean pit toilets a short walk to the river if you want to take a dip.

Goose Meadows was an awesome camping location. Everyone we met there was so friendly. The campground is right along the river with many access points and such a quick drive to all things available to do in Truckee. We will definitely be back!

We stayed at this campground for 6 nights. We were the only ones who stayed that long in our loop. The campground is right next to the highway so it gets noisy early in the morning but at least the campground is "sheltered" from the road by trees. Truckee river runs on the east side of the campground. I liked the loop that we were staying in. It felt more spacious, the campsites were not too close to each other. This site gets morning shade up to about noon. It is semi-private. I prefer staying at the state parks because of better amenities (they have showers unlike this campground) but if the state parks are all booked, this campground the site will work.

Charming little campground. Steve, the host, was awesome. He was so friendly and helpful and kept the place running like a top!

Outhouse style bathroom. But well cleaned. Great location with decent phone signal if needed

Friendly yet businesslike host. Really too bad that there were reserved but unused campsites. Seems if people dont show up on their first night the space should be let to any waiting to camp.

Great location- easy access to Truckee, Donner Lake, Squaw etc. Although the campground is right off Hwy 89 the road noise was really not noticeable. Mostly we could hear the river. The sites were large and well shaded, but not very private. Pit toilets and only one water spigot near the campground host. The river is pretty, but was far too deep and fast moving for kids to play in.

Brought our 5 & 6 year old sons here for their first camping trip. We only stayed for 2 nights, but it was a perfect place to introduce them to "roughing it".The campsites were spacious and quite far from each other - while we were there a group of campers were at the site directly diagonal from us and we could not hear them at all.The Truckee River was a pretty rocky/active spot in the river and there weren't too many places to really stop and look - we found a couple of rocks to sit on and the boys were totally fine with it.We had great cell service. We purchased more firewood there. Not too much to do, but very peaceful and beautiful - again - perfect place to introduce our boys to camping.

Small campground, some highway noise but not terrible. We really enjoyed our time for the 3-day weekend. Easy access tot he truckee river. Clean pit toilets, trash an water spigot available for use. Bear lockers were large but our larger cooler did not fit height wise. We moved all of our food to the small cooler inside the locker and left beer and other drinks in the large cooler. We were still warned that we could be fined up to $1000 by park rangers for not putting everything in the bear locker so make sure your coolers aren't too tall.
