Beautiful area. Our site was a very short and easy walk to get to the lake. Great view!Enough sun and shade in campsite to suit everyone. It was great to be able to have a real campfire. Camping there under the full moon shimmering off the water was spectacular! We left our bear box slightly ajar for about an hour while we were down in the lake. Enough opportunity for some critter to steal our good bread and leave just the torn up wrapper. Lesson learned lol

Our #21 site was and always has been our favorite. The host are amazing. The only down side of this trip was the Yellow jackets were absolutely ridiculous. We can tell they were an issue because we noticed many yellow jacket traps but the problem was they needed replacing and more.

Excellent camp site. Very private. Had a great time. There is no cell service at the camp site; however, if you take the designated trail (1 mile-ish) to the dam, you can get 1 bar of cell service if you need it. Also, the directions to the camp are sketchy. There is no road markings for Sugar Pine Road, you have to make a left at the road that shows Sugar Pine Rec Area 6 (brown forestry sign). Then drive all the way down to the 1st 3-way crossing and make a left. If you pass the OHV staging area, you went to far. The drive until you see the 2nd small brown ranger building (the first one is to sugar pine camps site) then turn right to Giant Gap camp site. I will definitely come back again.

I loved it here !!! Perfect campground near the lake so quiet and dark . The lake is gorgeous I am so glad not many people know of this place it is so clean ! Only con is that there is no service here but that’s what camping is all about , vacation from reality and our pesky phones . Will come again
