Our stay was great, facilities are very well kept. Check the weather and pack accordingly, extra blankets or sleeping bag for cold nights.A hike around the lake is a must, if you go in the hotter months, hike early and take plenty of water.

My family has been coming here as often as possible for a few years now, and we’re still loving it so much. Large campsites, beautiful water, and easy trails... this is a campground that just says “relax”. For us, the spotty cell service is a bonus; even kids have no choice but to find entertainment in the gorgeous forest around them.

If you like to fish trout, take the trail to the water inlet in the morning. We see people coming back with fish all the time. If you just want to get in some cold, clear mountain water to cool off, there is a nice beach roped off for swimming only. Boats are also allowed, but not at the swim beach area.

Whether you lounge on the beach or hike the trails, at dinnertime you can relax around a nice campfire in the fire ring (with a cooking grill attached). There’s also a nightly movie in the amphitheater playing current releases for a small charge.

I suppose I should mention the tradition at sundown. It’s been going on forever — both hilarious and nostalgic — just a fun way to tell the day is done.

One piece of advice— be ready for cool nights. Even on warm days, when the sun goes down the temperature drops quickly.

Pinecrest was lovely as ever after going there for about 50 years! Enjoyed that the trail goes around the lake now, nice hike, 4 miles. Also enjoyed renting kayak and going the length of lake and back.Fall is nice, campground not full, not so crowded, water relatively warm for swimming. Lovely.
