Dimond O is a good alternative in the summer when the valley floor is booked and too hot. Tuolumne Meadows is cooler than the valley floor and is easily accessible from Dimond O. This campground has the middle fork of the Tuolumne River next to it so it's a good place to be by a clean cool stream.

I am very disappointed in the reservation system. when I registered for this camp with the exception of my camp all but about 3 were full for my dates and these three were first come first serve. So i ordered my one camp available thinking it would be really full campground. It was only about half full every night. all the camps around me was suppose to be full every night but only about 1 in 3 had a camper in it. I don't mind that the camp was only half full very quite, but very irritating for the angst I had getting a camp when most of the camp bought registration and never showed.

This registration system needs to be adjusted to penalize NO SHOWS. In general i don't like pre-registration but you have to in a place like California but then again it is the system that allows people to pay for camps and no show which affects others actually being there. the same was true in Yosemite where ALL Camps were full everyday but as I would drive through several they were only about 3/4 full at best. IRRITATING

The camp hosts are on it here and extremely friendly. I was so impressed by the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the campground in general. The river is also extremely nice as a little retreat in the warmer months. Definitely quite beautiful. We will be back!

Quiet and well maintained park. Camp host, Robert, is very friendly. Evergreen road leading into the park is bumpy, rough, and a little narrow for big rig and tow. But very doable and wouldn’t let it stop me from using again. Mature redwoods throughout the campground, free range cows wonder through, cowbells in the distance at night. Very peaceful. No cell service. Dump and refill water at Yosemite Lakes campground, about two miles down hey 120 from Evergreen rd turnoff.
