The campground had unfortunately undergone a big tree cutting the week before we arrived, so several of the sites have very little shade and some deep divots from the construction trucks. We originally reserved site #8, but when we decided to change to something better. We also happened to booked during the Southern Cal tropical storm so it rained both days (in August) so we only stayed one night.

We love this campground and stay here every year. This year our campground host was Angel - he was helpful and personable and the restrooms were spotless. He greeted us at the check in and made regular rounds to make sure all was well. There was a bear in the camp but nothing happened (didn't get anyone's food or trash the dumpster) and one reason why was Angel came to each campsite to warn us to be careful and put all the food in the bear box, The next night - bear in the camp again! He came around and warned us again to be careful and he scared it away from the camp! Yay Angel! I felt like he wanted to make sure everyone had a positive experience, he was happy and enjoyed his job! He is an asset to the campground for sure! Will be back next year!

Angel lived up to his namesake! We loved our experience at Alpine Lake, but the host made it even more enjoyable with his affable manor and quick response when we required our friends car to be jump-started upon leaving. What could have spoiled our venture turned out to be a wonderful act of kindness. Thank you Angel. We will return.

Use the bear box we had a inquisitive Yogi come through camp our last night there not 10 mins after putting the fire out and heading in to the tent. The big guy broke off one of the latches to our kitchen tote( no food just cookin equipment) in short enjoy the atmosphere the peace and quiet even the nosy fury neighbors just please put all your food and trash in the bear box when your done with it
