Nice campground in general, poor camping site in particular. Site #8 was much too steep for us to use, even with our eleven leveling blocks. The Recreation.gov site doesn't give any clue about the site grade, plus incorrectly states the site is gravelled rather than the asphalt that is actually there. We had to abandon the campground and go to another campground down the road.

On our first night at the camp site there where a group of young adults next to our site playing a guitar which really didn’t bother me too much. But there guitar playing did cause our dog to bark a few times along with many other dogs at the camp ground. It was not Constant or even annoying to me. But in the morning the man running the camp grounds informed us that if it happened again we would be asked to leave. I told him that everyone else’s dogs were barking along with the noise from the guitar. His response was they where all reported as well and they were told they would have to leave also. So some nasty person who doesn’t like dogs reported everyone in the camp and I mean nearly everyone because there where dogs at nearly every site. My take from it was even though dogs are allowed to be there it is not a dog friendly site. So beware if you have dogs and want to camp here because you may be asked to leave if your dog does what dogs do.

Beautiful campsite on the lakeshore. However, we were there on a very windy day.

We camp on the shores of Lake Alpine in the Stanislaus National Forest. The skies are clear but it is extremely windy and cold. We wake up in the morning covered in a layer of sand that the wind kicked up into our tent through the vent between the rain fly and the tent body. It takes forever to clean and dismantle camp and be on our way.

The campground toilets and showers were closed.
