Love this campground for the roomy sights and beautiful sunsets. We were on a peninsula and watched the sunset every evening. On several evenings, we were able to move our chairs to the other side of our site and catch the moonrise as well. It gets windy sometimes and we enjoyed opening our windows on those days.

We loved staying at Modoc COE campground! We were at site 31 which was very perfect for us. We stayed there for four nights, and was able to find plenty to do right in the park. Our issue however was ants. We have been full timers in our 40 foot Motorhome for two years and have never had any problems with any critters. We developed an ant infestation of those little teeny black sugar ants. It took us 24 hours of work and vigilance to try and get them out. We tried homemade remedies found on the Internet, but finally had to buy some raid and spray it heavily inside the motorhome, some thing I was not very happy about doing. A product that can be used to eradicate those ants is called terro, and the nearby dollar store Did not carry it. I noticed at the check-in that there was a little sign that said we have ants but not uncles. More information would have been helpful. I would love to come back and camp there, but our 24 hours with ants from hell makes me never wanna come back again.

Marvelous facility with very gracious campground hosts who've been there for years. The Corps of Engineers has put the sqeeze on finances which shows up in no soap in bathhouses, etc. But the location and spacious sites more than make up for little inconveniences. The hosts do a tremendous job of trying to keep things neat and orderly. Highly recommend Modoc - we've been going there for some 20 years with annual family camping outings. Now we have four generations of the family enjoying camping in adjacent sites at Modoc.
