Everything looked good and ready for camping. Previous hosts were gone and a volunteer was there during the day. New hosts moved in and we met them. They were very nice. Looking forward many more trips to campground this season.

Hawe Creek is our favorite camping location. It is quiet, clean and beautiful. The sites are large and private and every one has a beautiful view! We kayak for hours on peaceful water. The camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. They are truly the best we have met at any campground. The only negative thing I can say about Hawe Creek is that it is not open year around. We long to experience fall and winter here.

This is a very good campground to spend a night or week at. A chance to get away from some of the technologies available at your home. Good old quiteness and relaxation. The attendances are very polite and courteous and will help you if need be.

We love sight #30 - the view is next to none HOWEVER it is very windy and any storms coming in from Georgia you will get. Just be aware of this fact.

Quiet large sites. Spaced out nicely, almost all are waterfront.

We love this campground and generally camp here twice a season. It is SO much more private and has much more space between campsites than any State Parks we have gone to or visited. Lake Thurmond is great for kayaking. We just went during the week of July 13-20, 2020 and must have picked the HOTTEST week of the year, but no rain and thank God for air conditioning! The couple that had always been the hosts in the past had recently retired (good for them) and new volunteer workers were handling the chores. We couldn't have asked for a better job by Walter and his co-worker. I hope Walter and Sandy and dogs get to stay there as hosts for many years to come. Even during the Covid mess, the bath houses were cleaner than any others we have seen. He pressure washed inside and cleaned, from what I saw as twice a day. Much grateful. Only thing we missed was someone at the gatehouse to control entry. It's hard to get a phone number to speak to someone now to ask for early check in, but we were ok. When we were leaving, we did see a traffic jam of campers coming in on Sunday before 3:00 and it looks like they pretty much put the "nonverbal convincing" on our neighbor to check out so they could get in. That happened because they couldn't speak to a person. Biggest suggestion I have is that I was told there is a chance of keeping it open year round instead of seasonal. We would definitely support that by coming in the off season. I saw a review that mentioned that they had heard the park was closing? Hope that's not the case. Please count my vote to expand the season for Hawe Creek. Thanks.

Hawe creek is by far our favorite campground anywhere! Once we camped there years ago no other place has ever measured up. We love the big sites right on the water complete with big trees for shade. Nice clean bath houses. Well kept grounds. If there is one negative about Hawe Creek it is that its not open further into the fall. It always seems that just about the time good camping weather gets here they are closing up. Our family has grown up camping at Hawe Creek and we look forward to many more trips there with our children and now Grandchildren.
