As a solo female camper, I felt pretty safe at this site despite being the only one at the campground for my entire stay. A camp host definitely wouldve helped but I totally understand the lack there of. The lake is absolutely gorgeous and the loop is pretty easy to walk. Site 20 is huge and definitely has enough space for everything you need, even got to use my hammock ! Mosquitos are the main downside, but Im in their house so I just used lots of bug spray and left without any bites. No bear encounters like others have had though, overall a super cool site. No data at all until you reach the beginning of Hoopa and no water so plan accordingly

Tucked 7 miles into the National Forest in a small valley, you have to drive up a winding USFS road, which at times hug steep cliffs and beautiful sights. Once you get to the camp you find a secluded spot away from the worst of civilization. As with all spots near stagnant waters, you'll never have a moment to yourself, always being hounded by bugs, birds, and other creatures. I had the pleasure to stay in spot 17, on the far end of the campground, it was the perfect spot for me to get a peaceful night sleep. The grounds themselves are a mixture of waist high bushes, towering trees, stumps, and flat spaces for you to pitch your tent. The soil is soft and mailable, so finding a good spot is ideal for your tent not disappear during a bathroom break. There's multiple restrooms available to all campers, and a sound lake not to far from the sites. Once you get past the lily pads and the weeds on the lake shore, it is a beautiful swim. Hardly any wind, noise, or humans could reach you up here. So if you don't mind a drive to wake you up in the morning with the twists and turns not only of the USFS road, but also the State Routes leading up to it, this is the perfect campground for you.

We stayed at site 17 and it was lovely. It is very big and set back from the road. There are a couple spots for tents, but we slept in our vehicle. There arent any perfect trees for a hammock but if you wanted to stretch the ropes out you could make it work. It is barely down the road from the vault bathrooms. Site 18 is right across from the bathrooms and it has an amazing view of the lake but the site itself is tiny and close to the road. The roads getting to the campground are in mostly good condition. Six miles off the hwy and then 3 miles off that road. There is a resident bear that lives in the park, multiple campers saw him, but he was always running away in every encounter.The lake itself is surrounded by lily pads and not great for swimming. A flotation device, kayak, or small boat would be ideal to get to the center of the lake where it is clear. There are croppie, large mouth bass, and trout in the lake for fishing.

There was not campground host. There were a few unruly folks camping there that were disturbing the entire campground. A host would have been very beneficial. This tainted anytime we spent at our campsite unfortunately. Time we spent on the lake and hiking was great though. We left early due to this.

The campground was very remote, the location was about 2 hours away from getting phone service for emergency in any direction. It had a 30 minute drive up a small mountain road to the campsite and the first night we were the only ones there. We saw 4 bears at the camp grounds and hundreds of mosquitos swarmed the camp site. After leaving we had dozens of bites even with bug spray. We talked to a very nice park ranger that loved the place, but we just maybe would have liked to know HOW remote it is as we are traveling as two females. Be very bear aware with food as well, since its so remote the bears are very prominent and we believe they were playing with our bear can that we set away from camp one night because in the morning it was moved and had marks. Just leaving a review to say what I wish we had known before staying. Still a beautiful surrounding area and had fun.

It was one of the most amazing camping trips I have ever been on. It was the day after a heavy rain that we went and nobody else was at the campground. It was only me and my son the whole entire time. The bathrooms were the cleanest I have ever seen in a campground. The lake had more trout then I have ever seen anywhere else. There were eagles, hawks, osprey, otters, bears and deer. Truly one of the best experiences of my life. All for like 18 buck plus gas to get there :)

The lake was pretty. Getting there is a paved cowpath that goes on forever up a steep mountain. I was terrified going up, (45 minutes to go up 9 miles) and left 6am to come back down(45minutes). The mosquitoes were hungry and I was the main course, sending in an army upon my arrival. I did not return for the second night. 2am there was a lot of banging a few sites over. Heard load "moans" assume an animal. I will not return, period!

Very over grown and hardly maintained. We got eaten alive and used an entire thing of bug spray in an hour trying to not be covered in bites its very un used looking and ew why on the bathrooms .We were from Idaho so we should have known with it being so far back there but we got there set up a tent and boom immediate black bear issue. More than 1 . not a soul in sight for 100 miles here comes a bear we left!!!! nobody would hear us die ! Warning to out of staters we found a more inhabited camp sight not in the Recreation.gov sight

The lake is BEAUTIFUL. Each campsite had a great view and lots of shade. Bring mosquito repellent. Our campsite had a hill to go up for a bit of privacy from the driveway. We had a bear stop by, so definitely lock up your food and anything scented (pets too! Our dogs scared it off though). The drive was amazing and Google maps wasn't too helpful, so follow the directions provided in your email.

Fish Lake NEVER disappoints! Well except for the millions of mosquitos! The Forest service people are so kind and friendly and do a great job of taking care of the place. The only negative response I have about it is the road leading to Fish Lake. It really needs to be cleared. It is CRAZY overgrown and in places it was barely wide enough for our truck.

Love this place! The campsites are nice and large, easily accommodating two tents. Each site is well separated from others and there was no noise (aside from some snoring) at night. Vault toilets are cleaner than a lot of gas station restrooms. Be forewarned that there are bears in the area and can mess with your stuff but they don't appear to be dangerous or very bothersome -- just remember to lock your food and toiletries in your car as no bear boxes are provided.

Very bad experience for us and we have been to many campgrounds. The camp sites are not well organised (close to each other and not flat) and it is very remote (the road to get there is not easy + 2 hours from Redwood). People there were very noisy until late and there was lots of mosquitoes.

The campsite was great, as they all looked; but there were so many mosquitos!! The lake looked nice, but there was a lot of plant stuff in the water's edges and that water was all "standing." I think that we went through an entire can of DEET. We still enjoyed camping but, I think the experience would have been better if we hadn't stayed near the water's edge.

We spent 3 nights at the campground. It was a nice campground with a lake view. A lot of privacy and very quiet. The lake is nice and surrounded by trees. If you like to fish, a boat or kayak is a must as there is thick lotus and other water plants grow at the perimeter of lake, which make it next to impossible to cast your line. I had seen other boater pulled fishes out of the lake. The drive up there from the main road is about 9 miles. Be very careful as the road is narrow and there are a lot of blind turns and corners. Fortunately, the traffic is usually very light. The restroom was clean and well maintained. The site has water but not electricity. There are a lot of mosquitoes in summer so make sure bring sufficient insect repellent. No cell phone service, as in the case in most of Six Rivers National Forest. Plenty of solitude during my stay to the point of feeling creepy at night. Every night my family and I went to bed listening to the chirping of insects and every morning woke up to singing birds. We have plenty of time to relax and unwind and just enjoy the peace and joy.

The lake was more of swamp (think very low water level, overgrown with plenty mosquitoes), no bathrooms with running water and loud late night activities of people next to us made this less than a good experience. Location is very remote, not sure if I would do it again.

There are apparently multiple Fish Lake Campgrounds in Oregon, and we reserved a spot in the Fish Lake Campground several hundred miles from where we were supposed to be. Our reservation was worthless at our actual destination, the Fish Lake 30 miles from Klamath Falls. Please be sure that this campground and the permits are named in a way that makes clear the location of this campground.

Pros: spacious beautiful inexpensivewater is a bonus great parking spot (depends on the section) clean toiletsCons: no cell signal bushy (bad for possible bears)vault toilets no bear box no showers When my husband and I went to visit this July 2020, it was a weekend and there were lots of people around, so it felt safe. However, once everyone left, it felt pretty desolate and specially creepy without cell signal. Also, bears might go there because we noticed some people were not careful with their food and some left food out on their tables at night. If you want to be safe, bring your own bear proof cooler, or hang your food. Also theres no showers, so we suggest bringing a privacy or shower tent. To prevent COVID 19 exposure, we brought our own toilet and used the privacy tent for that, but the restrooms were pretty clean. If you decide to go for this option, PLEASE make sure to dispose of your waste appropriately. Dont ruin it for the rest of us. About the lake, we didnt get in because it didnt seem a good place to swim in as there were a lot of plants that made it look inaccessible, however, the place was excellent for canoeing.

Great, isolated campsite located right on the lake. Lake itself is full of life. Bring a boat of any kind, or you will be disappointed you didn't! Campsite is shaded yet warm during the day, cool/cold at night (mid-Jun). Weather was sunny with no clouds entire trip. We stayed at site 13, classified a prime spot, which overlooks the lake and is private. Toilets were plentiful, clean and regularly checked. Running water taps are usually also located outside the toilets, as well as separated garbage disposal. Each site has a fire ring and a picnic bench table; there are no bear food storage lockers. Expect a very long and windy trip up, but you don't encounter much, if any, traffic. Make sure you bring everything you need, you can't just pop down the shops. There is absolutely no signal within an hour of the campsite, so make sure you cache a map or bring a physical one. Google maps does not have the roads mapped correctly, Apple Maps does. There is only one signpost for fish lake before you reach the site.

There is no camp host. No Forest Service patrol. Curfew is not enforced. The day use area is abused. People drive vehicles past gate into no vehicle zone. Half burned trash is left in the fire rings for the next user to deal with. Forest Service has dropped the ball on what used to be a fantastic campground.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
