We had site 4 and it was huge and private. Gorgeous scenery and lots of birds and animals to watch. We didn't bring our fishing poles but there were tons of fish jumping in the lake. The only things to know before coming is make sure you bring your own drinking water and firewood. If anybody in your party gets car sick, you'll want to be prepared for that as the road up to the site is very windy. The drive is worth it though

Site, 04 is one of the best sites we have ever rented. It's super spacious and feels very secluded. We will 100% be going back.

We did not make it all the way up the mountain to the campground. Although we had camped there many, many years ago and were looking forward to it, we felt uneasy about going that deep into the mountain. The "town" at the bottom of the hill seemed sketchy, which added to our uneasiness. We are an older couple, and didn't feel comfortable.

Site 4 is the best site by FAR! Be sure to bring lots of drinking water and firewood if you plan on using the firepit. There is no drinking water or firewood. Reserve ahead, there's no other way to pay for day use or camping than on rec.gov. and the internet can be spotty or nonexistent. Beautiful, quiet lake full of really good fishing, stocked trout. A walking path around the lake has benches and docks. The trail is also fun but can be steep in some spots and narrow.

This gem is being overused, evidenced from the volume of fishing line fragments hanging from trees, trapping wildlife, to the bobbers and litter keeping the hosts busy. It is small enough that the experience will be largely influenced by the behavior of others who are also camping, like loud and unaware campers. Experiences may vary.

We were in site 4. The bathrooms were very clean, the fish were biting, and the site was large. Site 4 was one of the more private sites at the campground, even though it is next to the disabled site. It had enough brush and cover from the trees to feel hidden. The restrooms were right across the camp road and they were very clean. I believe this site could fit 3 or 4 tents easily. During our stay we saw a rabbit, an eagle, deer, a snake, and other small wildlife. The campground was very quiet at night, with the exception of the frogs from the lake. :) Bring your own firewood and water, as the campground does not offer either. Even though this campground is 15 minutes from the town of Hebo, it does feel remote.

Quite and spacious , Lake is good for kayaking. Bring your own firewood and water. No running water. It's a perfect Quite get away as the camp site is not crowded. Camphost is approachable and nice

Had a great time at Hebo Lake, I stayed 10 days by myself & meet a lot of great people. The camp host's keep the place nice and clean and are very friendly. Great fishing for everyone with all the docks around the lake. Just don't tell everyone?? It's a place I like go and relax catch some fish for dinner and enjoy a nice campfire.

We absolutely loved this campground. The camp hosts were amazing and very friendly. The restrooms were by far the cleanest and best smelling vault toilets we have ever seen. The lake was small but very nice, we had fun catching fish and newts. We also went out at nite to look for the frogs that we could hear and had fun walking around the lake. In the mornings and evenings, we could see a rabbit around camp, and during the day we saw chipmunks and stellar jays. Overall we had so much fun we didn't want to leave. Next year we will be staying longer.

Very sketchy campground. Grass was waist high. Parking pads very uneven. I didn't stay. Moved on down the road.

Beautiful campground. Lush, green forest with a small mountain lake in the middle. Quiet and peaceful, nice and dark at night. No running water when I went, so had to bring own. Also no firewood available, so had to purchase in nearby town of Hebo. Some good trees for hammocks in some sites, such as 4 and 8. Be prepared for rain, since you are really in the heart of the temperate coastal rainforest here. On my trip here in early august it rained the entire time. Luckily the nice historic shelter with picnic tables and large fireplace provided a welcome respite to cook and relax in for the evening. I hear the lake is good for trout fishing, and there is a small boat ramp for launching non-motorized vessels, and several fishing decks along the shore. Will be back, with fishing rod and canopy for shelter from the rain :)

Wonderful, quiet camping experience. Grandson will never forget catching his first fish here at age 17 (big city kid). Priceless memories with his grandpa.
