I loved all the beautiful hikes through the old growth forest! A short walk to the impressive rough coast with wild rocks spouting water. Great perches on which to sit and watch the grey whales feeding. Spectacular panoramic view from the day use area to which you can drove or hike. It felt like a secret special spot!

The Cape Perpetua & Yachats area is our favorite of the entire Oregon coast. We always plan our trips there to coincide with the highest tides in the evening, when the wave action is most spectacular and the lighting is best. We hike from our camp site to access the rocky coastline scenery from the Spouting Horn to Devil's Churn. We drive into Yachats to walk the 804 trail.

Cons: I knocked off a star because most of the parking pads at the campground are quite sloped, making it difficult to level our little motor home. The campground was build so many years ago there were probably not any motor homes in existence to consider. Of course, If you are tent camping that will not be an issue for you. Note that some sites are ideal for tent camping because the tent pad and picnic table are very secluded, away from the road and in the woods.
No T-Mobile cell service. This became important when I had a medical emergency during the night. We broke camp at 1:20 a.m. and drove into Yachats to get cell service, then north on Hwy 101 to a hospital in Newport.
