We have always loved coming to this campground. It has always been well maintained with very clean campsites and bathrooms. However, this year every time we have come (3-4) the camp hosts have not been visible, have a huge dog who barks and is very unfriendly, the campsites have been trashy, the bathrooms are pretty scary with big clusters of spider webs, and no one even checked to see if we were in the correct camp site. In the past the campsite has always been marked with a reserve sign and the camp hosts have come by to see if we needed anything. What is happening to our campgrounds? At the very least the camp host should be visitor friendly and approachable and available.

Camp sites are small and closely spaced but well separated by trees and under brush. We had a trailer so I can't comment on bathrooms. We had clear sunny weather in mid Sept. Walk to the beach is maybe a 1.5 mile hike unless you drive to the parking lot. You'll need to climb a 40 foot sand berm to access the beach which is beautiful and flat. I would not recommend this for RV's or trailers over 24 feet long due to the sharp turns and narrow roads.

Great location, most sites have a lot of privacy even though they're pretty close together. Not many mosquitos in late June when we went. ATV noise from dunes is ever present during the day, but fairly distant and didn't really bother me. Kayaking is excellent, although the launching point from campground (behind sites 4 and 5 or under the bridge) was fairly muddy. Bathrooms clean and well stocked. No glass recycling on site, but aluminum recycling was available. Snowy Plover nesting closes off large swaths of the beach during part of the year.

Even though there are no water or electric hookups at each site, this is a very good camping experience. Close to the beach and river with plenty of trails to walk. I would camp here again.
