Wax Myrtle Campground is beautiful and ideally situated along the Siltcoos River. The hike to the ocean is superb and is thoroughly enjoyable. However, the OHV noise level is intolerable even though the OHVs are not allowed on the side of the Siltcoos River where the campground is located. Some signs state that the max db is 93, and most OHVs considerably exceed this number. We have stayed in this campground numerous times, and the OHV noise is always an issue, but it was really annoying this last time.

We enjoy Waxmyrtle for the benefit of camping right next to a river - the Siltcoos - and enjoying floating either direction.

Everything was great, although the restrooms could be a little nicer

Their was garbage in the campsite that had been there for sometime. The toilet paper ran out frequently. The host was off duty our entire visit.

We love this quite, clean campground with its large, private sites. This year we were a little disappointed to find shrubs and trees cut way back in some of the camp sites including the ones we usually use on the path along the river. The debris (including felled trees, piles of cord wood and saw dust/bark) was left on site so it was difficult to walk around the main area of the site and the area around the fire pit was really torn up. (Uneven and sandy with no ground cover.) Dead branches hanging over the site were not removed. And the little paths to the river trail and the river trail itself were over-grown. Visibility was opened up (too much?) between sites so there was a lot less privacy. Guessing there was a fire hazard or other concern that required this type of work. We continue to advocate for USFS Forest Service to improve the budgets for these rec sites, but weve heard that some of their budgets are being re-routed to fire. Considering all the restrictions, way to go Waxmyrtle staff!

The campsite was fairly clean and ready to go when we got there. There were some shrubs to provide some privacy.

We stayed in campsite 3 and launched our kayaks right from our camp. Great location and very clean.

Peaceful. Kayaked in the river. Walked to the beach. Almost all the other campers masked-up on trails which was nice to see. Saw river otters this time!
