Very nice private sites. Even a few with some sun (which can be a Great Thing on the Oregon Coast).

The reservation-only system is terrible and makes no sense for this campground--if it makes sense for any. Travelers can't know in advance which site they want, or even if they want to stay at that campground, and when they get to the campground the host is unable to change sites, so heaven forbid you pick one that you don't like. I'm forced to make a reservation but then am not allowed to cancel day of. We had two nights booked and weren't able to use either because of weather. But there is no point trying to cancel, so that means if any other campers came later and wanted to use those sites, even if they are empty, they won't be able to--BUT THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO ANYWAY DAY OF w/o reserve! This campground is usually completely empty during the winter, but if I go out there same day, I still can't stay there. This used to be my favorite spot because it's empty and quiet and other than summer months always has open spots. I have favorite sites, but I wasn't even able to reserve the right ones because I didn't know the number--and I can't change sites! This is ridiculous and flies in the face of what a campground is--a place you show up at the end of the day, select an open spot that looks good, and then pay for it. During the summer, perhaps half of the sites should be reservation only. The rest, first-come first serve. And in the off season, all sites should be first-come first serve. We had a terrible experience in booking (website sucks) and then didn't even stay there because how could we know our plan at the end of a 2000-mile roadtrip might change? Actually, we did know it may, but we either book in advance or have no place to stay. It makes no sense, it's stressful, and it's not the way National Forest land should operate. Covid restrictions are over. Open up the campgrounds. I'll bet the hosts will thank you, too. Terrible experience at one of my all-time favorite sites, and I'm out $60 for the privilege. If I could give Recreation.gov no stars, I would.

Large private sites, best access to the Dellenbach dunes. No showers or dump station, but both can be found 2 miles north at Tugman.

Had to pay $8 processing on line fee to camp here (only way to pay), above the normal fees!?! What’s that all about? (Even California National Forests and Recreational Areas didn’t charge this processing fee to book on line!) Is that just an Oregon thing? Negative: Pile of dog do do discovered in the middle of the eating portion of our picnic table, just after we had leveled our camper and paid for our spot. Positive: Bathrooms were pretty clean, but were lacking anti-bacterial liquid. Very disappointed overall!
