This location is absolutely beautiful! The last 7 miles of the drive to the lake keeps the faint of heart from visiting it. We will make this a regular camping/hiking destination for us every year!

The Vermillion campsites 30 and 31 were spacious and beautiful! There was running water for washing dishes. The bathrooms always had toilet paper. The lake wasn’t too far away either (about 2 miles). The camp host was diligent in his rounds and always offered great advice and protection. We did have a bear come close to the campsites one night, but Cookie and Lilly (the camp host’s hounds) scared it away. Also, there were many (and some large) chipmunks. Be weary of leaving food on the table while cooking! Try and keep everything in the bear-proof box.

The actual campground is great -- clean facilities, a decent amount of dead-and-down firewood to pick from, and if the lake was full, almost every campsite would likely have a view of the water. Through no fault of the campground's, though, Edison Lake (during our visit, June 2021) was just about empty, and would require a hike to get to. It does lend itself, however, to a lovely meadow that has sprung up in the absence of the full lake. Sunset across this meadow with the mountains in the background was sublime. Please note, that from Huntington Lake (17 miles from Edison), the road is a one-lane unmaintained once-paved road. It's rife with potholes & root growth, and though passable, I wouldn't recommend doing it if your car is in need of struts. It took us about 2 hours to get through those 17 miles.

Great campground, you're just the right distance away from other people's campsites. I went during summer and Edison lake was rather disappointing to look at. Much of the lake was dried up with a few boats on it. The best part of this campground is its proximity to several high altitude lake hikes including Devi's Bathtub, which I highly recommend checking out. The entire area is beautiful and bears don't seem to bother you. The worse you have to contend with is the chipmunks. This campground is also about 25 minutes away from the Mono Hot Springs, which feel wonderful relaxing in and staring out at the night sky. I would come back.
