Beautiful campsite. Bathrooms were really clean and surprisingly good smelling for vault toilets. Bear box was a little short to be able to get one of our ice chests in.

Site 23 was awesome! It was huge! Two large tents fit on two relatively flat spots. Lake is a 15 min drive through the Vermillion Valley Resort. Shore fishing, swimming, and playing in the water is possible. It's rocky so wear water shoes. The VVR had ice. $6 for a 10ish lb bag. No bears or raccoons on our visit. Bear boxes will not fit most coolers and are pretty small. Vault toilets were way better than I thought. Camp host is Robert in Site 19. Really good dude!

Once you leave the 168 and start the one lane road, it absolutely sucks! It's about 20 miles/90 mins of rocks, blind corners, and praying. Drive with the windows down. Honk before the corners and hill crests. It's nerve wracking af. It keeps the crowds out though. Fill up with gas at Lodge Road and the 168 or in Shaver Lake.

We love this campground, its at the "end of the road" no longer able to backpack, I still feel like I'm in the back country and off the grid, away from it all! Although we were able to get texts out from the lakebed. We were shocked!! Sad there is no water in the lake but the scenery is still breathtaking! And NO BEARS this year!!

Always wonderful to go to the high country! The camp host was friendly and informative. I reserved site #23 because of the waters edge location but the lake was @ 6%, total disappointment but what can you do?

It was a great time even though the lake was so so low.
Wish we would have know about the water level before coming, but it wouldn't have stopped us, just probably would not have brought the kayaks.
We had a bear in camp several nights but the camp host was great at keeping him moving along and out of mischief.
Love this campground and the surrounding area!!
