It was beautiful. There is a lot of dirt, bring a shade tent some sites are full sun.

The campground was not our favorite but the creek was magical. We are tent campers and had site 43. The campground feel is definitely more "RV" meaning very loud generators in the early morning and late at night, bright lights all around, loud music all day and into the night. A lot of the trees have been felled due to a pest so the campsite was very hot. The bright spot about Dinkey Creek is the creek. We spent 4-6 hours a day there. We brought wetsuits and inner tubes and shot a few mild "rapids." The creek rarely gets deep. I highly recommend closed toed water shoes. My kids's shoes and wetsuits had holes worn in them by the end of the trip--the rides downstream are shallow enough to snag toes and knees if your kids are big enough (mine are 5, 8 and 9.) It was a small price to pay to be able to spend hours in the creek. Sometimes other kids would pass by and try to shoot a rapid like my kids and often they would emerge in tears because of scraped knees or toes. I recommend staying downstream (lower numbered campsites) if your kids are little and you want to try to explore the creek like this. The rapids up at the very top of the campground (near sites 127) are too rough and have steep drop offs. Good luck! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

The staff was really friendly and the bathrooms clean. Overall, other campers were friendly too. While we were there, the status of the water was unclear in terms of whether it was potable, so that meant we suddenly had to boil our water or buy it. I hope that becomes clear soon (staff said they were one final test away from approving it for potability). It was also sad to see so many trees cut down. Hope the forest recovers soon.
