The nature here is absolutely stunning peaceful forest, fresh air, and beautiful surroundings. Despite a few issues, I still enjoyed my time, mostly because of how quiet and untouched the area felt.My campsite (#50) was a hidden gem. Its spacious enough for 23 small tents and offers real privacy no one can see you, and you dont see others (expect site #39). I also liked the neighboring spot (#39), which seemed similar. However, many other sites offer much less space or are right next to restrooms, where people constantly walk by. Especially sites for RV. Unbelievable small. I'd highly recommend checking the map and choosing a spot carefully. Now to the downsides: the sanitation situation was pretty bad. The showers were closed without any clear explanation, and the nearby restroom had low water pressure and a non-working faucet. On the second day, it was closed completely. I didnt check every restroom in the campground, but the closest one was not functional though at least it was clean. Definitely bring your own water and prepare to be self-sufficient in terms of hygiene and washing up.I arrived in rainy, foggy weather, but the road was well maintained and safe if you drive carefully. The campground was very quiet, almost empty during my stay, which was perfect. Staff presence was minimal I only saw one employee on the first day, and she seemed fine, but there was no one else around afterward.Other quick notes:Every campsite has a strong fire ring and a good picnic table. No bugs or wildlife issues during my stay.I noticed many cut/burned trees around the area probably due to forest maintenance. If you're into campfires, you might be able to collect firewood nearby (I used propane, so I didnt try), but check the rules beforehand. In short: come for the nature, not the service. If the basic facilities were fixed, this place would be a near-perfect mountain getaway. Im still considering returning to explore more trails.

This review is for site 50, loop E at Dinkey Creek Campground during my stay from Monday July 22 - July 25, 2024. Overall, I was happy with the site, but there are negative things you need to know before you select this site.First, the good things: The campsite is huge and largely isolated from the other campers. This means that even though the campground was sold out completely this campsite remained pretty quiet and almost unobservable from other folks. There is plenty of space and several flat locations to pitch a tent. The picnic table was mostly level and there was a good (unmelted) fire ring. Dinkey Creek is very close by and is fun to wade in.Now for the other stuff: There is almost no shade. The only shade is provided by tall trees with tufts of foliage near the top (like a Sequoia tree) that give a lollipop shade on the ground that moves throughout the day. Regardless where you place your cooler, it ends up in full sun unless you move it 20 times per day. The highs every day were over 90 F, and it was too hot to hang around at camp. The reason the site was so isolated is that it is 50 vertical feet lower than the road and 100 yards distant. I was full-on car camping with a lot of stuff and this meant a lot of trips back and forth (and up and down). Too much. Also, you are very far away from the toilets which would be a problem for the ladies.Lastly, the fire ring has a cooking grate, but it's much too high in the air if you use charcoal. It would only be functional if you were cooking over a big wood fire.I recommend this site only for people who wants to do lots of hiking before they begin their hikes, and if you stay when it's not so hot like spring or fall

The view is good. My campsite is nice as well.the only downside is my campsite needs to keep climbing...

Only downside to campsite 49 is that it didn't have too much shade during the day time.Camp site 50 was about 50 yards down a hill, which makes it secluded but a b**** to take your gear down and back up. Also a lot of meat bees constantly in your business.

Campsite was beautiful; lots of spots to swim, even when the water was low, although it is quite cold. The campground was almost completely empty when we went at the end of August; the niceness of the camp sites is very dependent on the site number, some are incredible and very private and huge and some are tiny and very close to the roads/bathroom so definitely check the maps before choosing a site. Yellowjackets are prominent so bring repellent for when you’re gonna be cooking during the daytime and make sure to keep your trash and food in the car because bears are definitely around. The camp store has ice and wood for sale and at a reasonable price and they let you forage for wood aswell which was great because there were a lot of chopped down trees around.
