Jim and Holly, the camp hosts were absolutely phenomenal. They were very attentive and kept the camp and bathrooms clean. Jim had jokes for days. Wed love to see them again when we visit the next time.

It was a great site! Plenty of space, right next to the creek, path to restroom, and water right next to the site. The host Jim and his wife were very helpful and friendly! Appreciated the extra effort and care they put in!

Beautiful campground/campsite. With no line to get through the Yosemite entrance, this campground is about an hour from Yosemite Valley. We wish we would have had more time at the campground, as a short trip dictated us leaving early and arriving late to our campsite, due to the drive. We would choose this location again, if we had more time. Serene, private, quiet and spacious. Vault toilets were very clean. We brought a solar shower for cleaning up. Very enjoyable location.

Very calm place, water stream running on the side less than 5 minutes to the Yosemite south entrance

This is a quiet campground, sites are well spaced and fairly private. A much better experience than camping inside Yosemite. The drive to the valley is about 1 hour, but there is also plenty to do at the campground. Fishing is great, plenty of crawfish in the creek as well. There are lovely falls and swimming holes a short walk away from camp. Lots and lots of wildflowers in the spring and early summer.

Gorgeous camp ground. Usually you must book this way in advance and it is so worth it. You are far enough away from others for some privacy but close enough to feel safe. The trees are beautiful, there is an awesome little stream running along the side of the campground, and It’s 5 minutes outside of Yosemite! It’s close to so many trails and views even if you can’t get into Yosemite. Also, the fish camp convenience store has everything you could ever need. The bathrooms are clean and there is running water. Only downside is no showers and it gets pretty cold at night. Bring a camp shower & space heater and you’re in business!

This campground is wonderful. This was our second consecutive year camping here. The camp hosts both years have been very kind and diligent in keeping everything clean. There’s usually firewood available to buy, and the host will bring it right to your site.
The South Gate to Yosemite is only just around the corner. It’s 35 miles from there to the valley. Oakhurst is about 20 minutes down the road when you need to resupply. There’s several grocery stores and restaurants. If you want to support local, Southgate Brewery is seriously good food.
This campground is rustic, so non-flushing pit toilets and no showers. There’s a creek, but even in August, the water is still VERY COLD.
We have AT&T, and had very spotty reception at the campground. One bar at best, so just enough to send a receive texts, but don’t rely on that for anything urgent.
If you’re a parent, or even just a train/history nerd, or all of the above, save a day to check out the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad. It’s only a few minutes south of the campground. They have an authentic restored oil and steam engine and passenger modified logging carts. The ride is about an hour long and you can get food there. There’s also a little museum and gift shop.
The rules for park entry to Yosemite are in constant flux due to COVID, so make sure you’re checking the actual National park website every day before you go.
