The rangers were friendly - the campground is beautiful and central to our favorite hikes in the park.

Disaster trying to get into the site we had reserved. Dumpster in the way of backing a 5th wheel and then a large rock about 20 inches high on the right side of the site....we got stuck astride it. Don't ask me how. Bad directions on my part. The guy at desk (Sweeny??) was great but the range was a b'otch! Said could not move a natural resource...excuse me, that natural resource was purposely put there when site created! She was rude. Said she couldn't help and it was our fault (of course it was). We finally, after 3 hours, were able to manuever off the site and go in opposite direction.

We love Big Meadows! It's a great campground with amenities like 24hr showers and laundry.
Currently the Wayside and Visitor center hours aren't super convenient, closing at 5pm most days but it's otherwise great. I do wish they would repaint the dircetional arrows on the loops and stress that it's one way through most of the campground

First, we Loved the campground location and peacefullness. However, site G204 is hideously unlevel. Thus the 2 stars. Great for sledding, not so much for a motorhome or camper. I would have preferred parking next to the dump station for the night. So we didn't stay there the first night, opting to remain outside the park.

Thankfully, on sunday we drove through the unreservable loop "C" and found several very accommodating and beautiful sites that were open. In fact, most of C loop was still available as first come first serve. Great options. But (with all due respect) dont rely on the ranger to make a suggestion before checking in. The one he suggested was also very unlevel and too short for our rig. Glad we did our own drive thru recon to choose one of our own. Many other suitable options were available.

Once set up, the site and peacefulness was wonderful. We chose not to ever run our generator even when allowed, because we didn't want to break the silence and ruin the experience of others (or us)
