It was great! Lots of other campers but it was not loud at night. We went to a ranger talk on Sunday night at the amphitheater and I definitely recommend. The bathrooms were clean and convenient and all of the staff we talked to were helpful. The campsite was easy to drive to and the space was bigger than we needed. Lots of deer and little critters but we both kept a distance.

Beautiful campground. Well maintained. Easy access to great hiking opportunities. Only one recommendation: It would be helpful if the online campground description provided a little more information about the shower situation. It currently says that quarters are needed for the showers, but I think it should go a little farther and specify that they require $5.00 worth of quarters. Without that information it would be easy to arrive unprepared with sufficient change. The showers were nice and the cost seems more acceptable given that they can be shared.

Big Meadows campground was the perfect place to stay for our Shenandoah National Park trip! Being close to the lodge in case we wanted a restaurant meal was so convenient, and also very close to the visitor center and camp store!! The fire and ice was located very conveniently on the campground as well. 10/10!!!

The Big Meadow campground was an excellent location if you like to hike. There were many trails close to the campground witout requiring a long drive. The downside to the campground was that there didn't seem to be a quite hour over night. I was next to motor homes who's generators, or water heaters, or furnaces kept turning on all night long.
