We were in the A loop and liked the forested nature of the campground. Everyone, from the ranger at the main gate to the park, the ranger at the campground check-in and the campground hosts were very friendly and helpful. We did take advantage of the evening star program and found it informative and enjoyable. One of our favorite campground experiences.

The Rangers make the experience special. Without them it wouldnt be the same. Courteous, Helpful, and Friendly always greeted with smile.

We've been regulars at Big Meadows for more than 50 years and ALWAYS have a wonderful time. Yes, we've had rain, but always were prepared so that never dampened our interest/enjoyment. Perhaps current funding and staffing problems caused our first real problem - the toilet in men's restroom was closed for repairs during our stay and there was no indication when or if it would be repaired. Yes, there are alternates not too far away but our concern is that this may be the beginning. We have future reservations at the same site this year - and will enjoy our time there.

Big Meadows was a wonderful campground. Very clean and felt safe each night. The showers and bathrooms were excellent. Friendly staff. We had the burgers at the Wayside and they were excellent! We had deer eat berries while we drank our coffee. We will be back!

The fall colors were stunning. There were deer who visited the campground every day. Sign up for Rapidan Camp before you arrive.

Interesting that the sign at the station coming in to Shenandoah Skyline Drive says campground FULL. When getting at Big Meadows Campground a sign Reservations Only. Looking around 2/3s of the campground is empty with no reservation paper on posts in campground. The National Park is losing a lot of revenue over the past few years with there new policy of reservations only. Once more I keep getting emails to donate to the park during this time period of changed regulations. Management needs to really take another look at there policy.Besides that always a great time camping at Big Meadows.

As always its a pleasure to camp at Big Meadows.The new reservation system is ridiculous who ever came up with it doesnt know that when you make a reservation you pay for the days you will be there. To give it to someone else if you dont show up is double dipping. With the new reservation system, reserved sites only in Big Meadows theres always empty sites that someone could have had.Cost of showers $5.00. A family of 4 is looking at $20. for showers and $30. for the site. Cheaper to go to a campground down below and come up to hike. They have showers and a pool included. Should I go on. Im a senior and only pay $15. for the site.

Big Meadows has a lot to offer for enjoying nature. Although it is a 9 hour drive for me, I go 2-3 times a year. Sites are roomy, bathrooms clean. Bring quarters for a shower though, it is not free!
